I think J colors his hair, because in the Free So Free promos out by the shed with Bob his hair is not grey.

i dont think so, i think he just went grey rather quick. he wasnt too grey during the watt tours 5 years ago.

i miss watt.

When I met him at ATP this year he was wearing Kermit the Frog shoes, Adidas I think… bright green with Kermit on the side.

I like how he dressed in late 80’s best, all the beads and fucked up hair and stuff.

you mean these… ?

I think there was an interview with Dino Jr’s manager where he talked about that hair, said J used egg whites & a straightening iron to get that special look… :o ;)

found the quote, it was in the MOJO article

Quote:
He shaved off most of his hair and cut the rest to uneven lengths, a style he called "the chemotherapy". Later he’d mimic Nick Cave’s Birthday Party-era hair: "…The’Finger in the power-socket look!" laughs Dinosaur’s first manager/roadie Jon Tepler. "He’d achieve that by frying egg-whites into his hair with straightening tongs."

thought I should add my two cents about grey hair or not. I saw Fog play in 2001, and the hair was quite grey. ;D

Yup. Even between ’97-’99, when I lived in Northampton and used to see J around pretty often, he was definitely graying, though by the time of the first Fog tour he was about 5 times as gray as he was the last time I saw him in ’99. I guess that when it happens, it happens quick.

Not always fast, I have like four or five grey hairs around my temples, my husband has the same thing, his started about five years ago, mine like two years ago…………….so far thats it, just a few but because I was blond my hair is not grey it’s like losing it’s color, it’s like clear, plastic or something. Ahhh, beautiful aging. :D

I think stress brings it on and with the gall bladder being removed, the car accident, pnemonia, the house fire, bob dying, his dad dying the stress added to the grey.

i also think it’s heredity too though. i have hardly any gray and i’m a couple years older than j. my parents esp my dad didn’t have much at my age either. whereas my friend is 16 years younger than me and is half gray already, his granddad was also gray at a really young age.
i’ve wondered about the hair color thing on j too but he looks good both ways to me so it’s really just up to him how he feels like looking. a dude wailing on an axe with long flying gray hair is cool and witchy.

It’s definitely heredity in J’s case. I met his brother Mark last night and he’s completely grey as well. If you didn’t know any better, you’d swear he was Lee Ranaldo.

I always thought that the Strength Thru Oi T-shirt with long hair and hippy-ish beads look was genius.

I remember seeing J wearing a T-shirt with the slogan, "Everybody Loves Plastic Bags". Pretty funny.

He was rocking that awful t-shirt with the montage of airbrushed-looking seal faces last night. Sweet.
