Thanks, yeh with the music they play there’s no way in can’t be trippy
. I’m hoping their other releases come close to Amanita and Lapsed, they would rocket up my favorite band list. Do you have any other albums by them?November 8, 2006 at 7:01 am #73590"alicemudgarden jr " wrote:Thanks, yeh with the music they play there’s no way in can’t be trippy
. I’m hoping their other releases come close to Amanita and Lapsed, they would rocket up my favorite band list. Do you have any other albums by them?Yeah, almost all of them:
Bufo Alvarius-the debut.a distorted mess in a good way
Set And Setting-ok but I don`t listen to it much
Dilate-this is a good one, recommended.Isobel plays violin on some songs
On The Eclipse-kinda dull, leave it til you get the others
They have a new one called Ticket Crystals,I have`nt heard it yet but some say it`s one of the best albums of the year. They also did a one or two albums as Hash Jar Tempo which is with a guitarist from New Zealand named Roy Montgomery.
November 8, 2006 at 8:12 am #73591cool thanks for the advice, hopefully I can pick up some of their cds at the show because it’s really hard to find them around here. It’s hard to find any good cds here even dinosaur; I’ll probably have to start buying stuff from the internet.

You’re going to have a blast… as long as the openers don’t last for 2.5-3 hours
November 21, 2006 at 3:16 pm #73593Melvins – Manchester Academy 13/12 day after my birthday so hopefully I won’t have too bad a hangover for it
January 25, 2007 at 5:11 pm #73594THE POGUES!!!!!!!
Had no idea they were playing, snagged tickets to the one show that wasn’t sold-out already……then realized it’s the same night as Isis & Jesu, to which I also have tickets.
Anyone want 2 tickets to Isis & Jesu @ Irving Plaza Wed. 3/14? $16 each, face-value. PM me.
January 25, 2007 at 5:42 pm #73595I know this is going to sound like the stupidest question ever, and it probably is, but -is shane back with the pogues ? or is it the pogues, but without shane ?
January 25, 2007 at 5:46 pm #73596any chance of hitting both shows?
Wicked choice, enjoy yourself!

They’ve been gigging again since 2003/4 and I saw them last year on St. Paddy’s night, their first US tour since 1990! It was an incredible show.
January 25, 2007 at 6:08 pm #73598oh man, that sounds like a great deal ! Being the total ignoramus I obviously am, I didn’t know Shane was back in the group again. Well, then you’re definetely in for a fantastic show !
btw, have you seen the If I Should Fall….documentary ?January 25, 2007 at 6:10 pm #73599"Another Girl Another Planet " wrote:any chance of hitting both shows?Wicked choice, enjoy yourself!
No. If Jesu were headlining I’d probably get to catch at least most of their set since the Pogues are going on pretty early, but I imagine that the Pogues and Jesu will be hitting their respective stages at around the same time. Neither Parsons nor Dalton is touring with Jesu, though, so it won’t be horrible to miss Broadrick and a couple fill-in players. And I’ve seen Isis a handful of times already.
January 25, 2007 at 6:15 pm #73600The Pogues documentary is great! It was in indemand for my cable about a year and a half ago, and I watched it all the time.
Are the Pogues doing a big US tour, or is it a NY, Chicago, LA deal?
January 25, 2007 at 6:16 pm #73601"Robert " wrote:btw, have you seen the If I Should Fall….documentary ?Yeah, several times (I own it). Such a brilliant guy, and such a spectacular mess. He was in considerably worse shape when that doc was made than he is now. I think he’s ditched the heroin, crack, pills, and god knows what else for simply the booze these days. A friend of his recently died from "the lifestyle" (the banjo player in The Popes), and I think that’s shaken him a bit. He’s not always totally focused on-stage, but when he is, there’s a magic and force to his delivery that’s impossible to describe. Truly one of the great lyricists and frontmen of our time. A genuine poet, even. I’m totally excited to see them again, as I wasn’t sure I’d ever get the chance, never mind twice!
January 25, 2007 at 6:18 pm #73602I love that documentary ! After I bought it, I’d watch it almost once a week for 6 months.
