That said, as I said eons ago, it can never be a proper reunion without Gary behind the drums. Even so, I had a wonderful time.
Surfer Blood made me laugh and giddy inside.
Ludella Black feat. The Masonics was the hens teeth. I’ve got some of Golightly’s albums, and she’s good, but in my eyes Miss Black is even better, at least I think so after seeing her live.
Lucky lucky slavegirl who gets to see Best Coast !

And Margot & The Nuclear So and So’s is the best band name I’ve heard in a long time.Gary did play drums on some California shows. One of my friends on another site got to see Gary with them on the final 6 tunes. She`s just getting into Pavement but she was pretty satisfied with the gig.
Yeah I have to listen to the one Ludella solo album I have again. And the Thee Headcoatees albums tooAugust 17, 2010 at 2:40 pm #73679He did ? Wow, that’s great news. Guess I have to read up on their reunion.
Don’t get me wrong, they did a nice performance when I saw them, but it was at a festival gig, and to me that’s not the perfect venue for the band.Which are your favorite Holly Golightly record ? Must confess I haven’t listened to her in a while, but I think I have to do something about that.
Yeah, The Headcoatees were brilliant.August 18, 2010 at 7:26 am #73680"Robert" wrote:He did ? Wow, that’s great news. Guess I have to read up on their reunion.

Yeah, The Headcoatees were brilliant.Singles Round Up might be her best.A good cover of Box Elder included!I like her choice of tunes, she`ll sing an obscure blues by Big Maybelle then try a Lee Hazlewood tune the next.God Don`t Like It is another good one.Sometimes I swear she reminds me of the early Rolling Stones. Her debut Good Things is another one I go back to.
August 19, 2010 at 11:17 am #73681Thanks, SG, I’ll look into those when the weekend arrives in the artic. Which incidentally is on friday, same as the rest of the world. Funny that.

September 9, 2010 at 1:09 pm #73683Nobunny tonight !
I couldn’t be happier. Atleast not while wearing clothes, and knowing Nobunny that might be taken care of during the performance.
September 16, 2010 at 1:21 pm #73684Of Montreal. And I’m still entertaining a tight helmet after the New Pornographers show last night.
October 4, 2010 at 9:59 am #73685Patti Smith and her band played an electrifying set in the park yesterday. Patti’s amazing, a luminous beacon of righteous poetic soulful rocknroll upliftment, and her band is so tight. Lenny Kaye–fckin A!! They had 10,000+ people in the palms of their fender-wielding hands; the sound was great, esp. for an open field. Took one of my kids, 13, who was duly blown away. Great, friendly crowd, fog, sun, and eucalyptus. Also fun were Elvis Costello and the Sugarcanes and Dave Alvin and the Guilty Women. Thanks for the party, Warren; now invite Dinosaur Jr to play next year.
