Just got back from Manchester, I really really hate train conductors… anyway The Melvins were amazing tonight, they played much better than at the ATP. The double drum solos were totally insane and Buzzo rocked so hard. Flipper supported with Krist Novoselic playing bass which was really cool to see again and on their last song buzzo and dale came on.
Set wise they played pretty much the mirror of the ATP show, loads of song off the new album which I’m not massive on but they played Sky Pup, Revolve, Hooch, The Bit, Lovely Butterfly, Set Me Straight, Bloated Pope, Safety Third. All of which I loved.
I got a kick ass gig poster which was signed by the melvins and flipper. Same as this one below

Overall a great night of music and I can’t wait for them to tour again, maybe leaving the bassist behind though, I can’t stand his voice.
December 14, 2006 at 8:22 pm #124190I saw the Melvins back in late October, it was my first time seeing them, even though I’ve been listening to them for awhile. As far as I remember they played almost every song off the new album and not too much else. I want to say they played Oven, Sky Pup, Hooch… A Senile Animal really grows on you after awhile though, it convinced me to start listening to Big Business. And Civilized Worm is amazing live! The Melvins live are amazing period. Hasn’t Dale gained so much weight though?
And you got to see Flipper too! Do you remember what songs they played? They really don’t have enough dates lined up at all.
And you don’t like Jared’s voice? Whoa, he reminds me of like, a younger Buzzo vocally.December 15, 2006 at 2:01 am #124191Yeh Dale has gained weight but it still doesn’t stop him from beating the shit out of the drums. I really enjoyed most of Big Buissness’ set, Dale was ace on guitar and I’ve never heard anything like that before. I just hate those double backed vocals on the new album, there is only one King Buzzo, I would just like him if he didn’t sing.
As for Flipper I can’t really remember but the last two songs were Way of the World and Sacrifice (Lysol) where dale and buzzo came on. They played about 5 songs all together though.
I have to admit the new album is growing but I still hate that Night Goat rip off song, why the hell don’t they just play Nightgoat instead?? It’s one of the best Melvins songs
December 15, 2006 at 3:47 pm #124192Oh I don’t think anything could ever stop Dale from being a great drummer, it’s what he was born to do. He has so much skill. And his guitar riffs are sweet too.
I enjoy the double backed vocals, The Hawk is one of the coolest songs on the album. It’s one of the elements Big Business brought to the CD, so I can see why you don’t like it alot.Flipper played only 5 songs? That sucks, I love their stuff. I would have loved to see all of them do Sacrifice though.
That song does really get on my nerves too. I skip a couple songs towards the end, that one and A Vast Filthy Prison. I agree that Night Goat is one of the best Melvins songs, that bassline is so amazing. But the great thing is in that recent Melvins Sirius interview, Buzz said he wants to tour soon with Lustmord!
So we could be seeing them again soon.December 15, 2006 at 4:54 pm #124193NO Fucking Way! I love pigs of the roman empire, it’s one of my favorite melvins albums now. It would be so good if they got Lustmord to open for them then play loads off that album. I’ve got a few Lustmord albums and some of the stuff is so scary. I think he’s only played live once and that was for the church of satan or something on 6/06/06

Do you have a link for the interview?
December 16, 2006 at 11:56 am #124194I wouldn’t dare miss a Melvins show, and Lustmord only makes it cooler
Pigs of the Roman Empire is a great album indeed. I don’t have any of his actual albums though, I may have to look into that. The interview is right here: http://coddington.us/melvins/sirius.html”>http://coddington.us/melvins/sirius.html
Make sure you get At One With the Melvins too, it’s cool. I never knew Buzz and Dale liked the Birthday Party.December 16, 2006 at 12:08 pm #124195http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6_92BNyFSOY 6_92BNyFSOY

I don’t think so, but that’s an awesome video nonetheless!
