August 27, 2006 at 1:57 pm #121102Can’t make it all the way down there, but I expect to find the full dossier on here when I wake up tomorrow….
August 28, 2006 at 12:10 am #121103tonight was simply stunning. same standard set of old tunes, no new teasers or anything, plus the wagon. much better than either of the irving plaza shows, though the crowd heckled the band quite a bit tonight. one encore that consisted of just like heaven, freak scene, and mountain man. talked to murph afterwards and he said he thought it was a rough show for them, but i personally thought it sounded magnificent.
August 28, 2006 at 6:50 am #121104my ears are ringing… awesome!

August 28, 2006 at 9:34 am #121106"more cowbell!!!!" "more vocals!!" "more cowbell!!!!!!" and so forth.
August 28, 2006 at 12:19 pm #121107and
"be my friend, lou!"
to which lou came back with something along the line of
"no, sorry, my friends are humble people who don’t yell at shows."August 28, 2006 at 1:08 pm #121108Heh, good cynical heckling (I mean, sarcastic–I get the two mixed up)
August 29, 2006 at 2:55 pm #121109I thought Lancaster was the worst town ever to hold a dino show. What were they thinking? Sunday night, not a single beer store was open. no restaurants open after the show, people under 21 couldnt even be in the crowd in front of the stage, they had to go upstairs.
Dino played the same stuff as the last tour. The road crew are all new people, they really didn’t seem to have it together in setting up dinos stuff. J dropped a guitar on the ground really hard during a song, (i think it was out of tune?) And his guitar on Mountain Man was really out of tune. I could have sworn J told the crowd to "Go fuck off" when the crowd was yelling "more vocals" It was a standard Dino set, closing with
Just Like Heaven
Freak Scene
Mountain ManLancaster hippies had a pit going for almost the whole show.
Opened with Gargoyle
didn’t play The Lung or The Post
Played Lose, Kracked, Sludge, Forget the Swan, Bulbs of Passion, Budge, Wagon, Tarpit, In a Jar, don’t really know the order.
didnt play ChunksIn Baltimore, they closed with Chunks. It was a much better venue. It was the same standard dino set, but they played Chunks, and The Lung and Does it Float and The Post. People were taking photos of J like crazy. He was playing a lot of spacey guitar stuff in between songs. Both shows the band sounded incredibly tight. Really, really good. Wish I could have gone to New York tonight, but I just can’t make it this time.
August 30, 2006 at 7:14 am #121110Anyone else notice Lou’s bass.
I am no musician, but that is a gorgeous instrument.August 30, 2006 at 9:19 am #121111"fantinfind " wrote:Anyone else notice Lou’s bass.
I am no musician, but that is a gorgeous instrument.Oh yeah! Bow before the beaty of the almighty Rickenbacker!
August 30, 2006 at 10:17 am #121112Rickenbacker bass is what Lemmy in Motorhead has used since early days or from the start. Not sure why Lemmy uses that one, is there any sixties band he was inspired from?
Not sure if Lemmy’s the main reason Lou has played Rickenbacker with dinosaur since the start. Rickenbacker is used by al lot of "alternative" ( read Mtv bands) nowadays.August 30, 2006 at 3:52 pm #121113"simmons " wrote:Rickenbacker bass is what Lemmy in Motorhead has used since early days or from the start. Rickenbacker is used by al lot of "alternative" ( read Mtv bands) nowadays.I think it was J’s suggestion to have Lou play a Rickenbacker. But a couple years back Lou had an update on loobiecore where he draw a comparison between himself and Lemmy. Lemmy has already played a Rickenbacker bass in his pre-Motorhead days when he was still with HAWKWIND (Check ’em out ! They’re killer ! Their 1971-1974 Lemmy-era stuff is totaly amazing psychedelic freak-out rock shit – there would be no Monster Magnet without Hawkwind)
