May 7, 2007 at 8:00 am #102870I saw the Dropkick Murphys the other night at a university not far from here. I didn’t even have to pay. Hooray for guest passes and the person who gave one to me!
July 17, 2007 at 9:42 am #102871Saw Built to Spill last night at St. Andrews Hall in Detroit. They sounded excellent. Played a good mix of old and new. Even through in a Brian eno cover.

He must’ve been having an off night. He’s a great, rock-solid drummer and usually really drives the band.

July 18, 2007 at 8:13 am #102874Would love to go see Kids in the Hall at the end of this week but… I can’t.
Also, The Cure and Bjork are coming in the fall, plus five tons of other bands that I’d love to see but…
July 18, 2007 at 10:45 pm #102875Travis at Clutch Cargos in Pontiac. I know they may be a little too pop for most of the people into Dino, but they always put on an excellent show. Travis and The Flaming Lips are the two bands that their concerts are sort of like a celebration. It’s refreshing to watch a band play, that actually looks like they are having fun.
July 26, 2007 at 10:57 am #102876Lucinda Williams outdoors, on the grounds of FX Matt Brewery in beautiful downtown Utica, NY. An excellent show. Guitarist Doug Pettibone can play, and, of course, that girl can sing.

I love the new album though some people have been down on it saying that it`s too depressing. It`s the aftermath of her mom and aunt`s death so you don`t expect an upbeat record.July 26, 2007 at 12:35 pm #102878Lu played a new song ("Honey Bee") last night that reminded me of Joan Jett. Sounded good. She also sang a cover of a cover: Richard Hell’s version of Fats Domino’s "I Live My Life" (bluesy). I think her next album (’08?) will have a different vibe from West.
August 9, 2007 at 3:09 am #102879it wasn’t last night, it was a while ago but i will see them again and you should if you have a chance, the Avett Brothers, they are toxic bluegrass but it is so much more, it doesn’t matter what you listen to, if you like quality music and a energy packed live show go see them, they put their souls into every second and leave no room for dissapointment, i’d travel to the ends of the earth to see them, even erie…
August 12, 2007 at 2:11 pm #102880I caught Silversun Pickups last night. I’m a big fan, so thought it was an incredible show. Sorry, no setlist

The crowd was pretty lax, but there was quite a bit of surfing at the end.
About three songs in, I was screaming for them to turn it up. Must of heard me, cuz the singer looked to the sound guys and motioned for them to crank it up more
.They seemed really into it. They were talking to the crowd in between songs, smiling a lot, and seemed to be having a really good time.
Have a ton of pics here

October 9, 2007 at 6:44 pm #102881…Elvis Costello opening for Dylan.
Just Elvis and his guitar(s)…he carried it off quite nicely.
Bobster’s voice may be "blown out on the trail," but he can still bring it when he wants to.
Positively 4th St, Visions of Johanna & Ballad of a Thin Man worked just fine for me.
October 9, 2007 at 7:45 pm #102882Smashing Pumpkins @ The Fox Theatre in Detroit. Worst show I’ve ever seen. The band sounded huge, but an unbearable laser show made it impossible to watch the show. I got the ticket for free, but still felt like it was a total waste of my time. Most of the songs they plyed were off the new album. The nest part of teh show was when Corgan came out and did a few acoustic songs by himself with the light show off. I could actually see teh stage. I’m surprsied nobody left the show after having a seizure.
This was the first concert I’ve ever been to were the band sounded great, but the concert just sucked. Maybe I was just foolish to expect them to play songs like Siva or I am One, when there’s a new album to push.
