Well after a strange dream :? which involved the intro to this song ive found a new appreciation for it. Its like im hearing its magic for the first time all over again  . So i was wondering if this has happened to anyone else and which song did you ‘re-discover’ :?:

The first time I heard little fury things it blew me away completely and after hearing it hundreds of times it still has the same effect on me. The intro is damn cool, you can really hear the two layers of thick guitar noise made from only two simple chords -amazing. It is defenantly a fucking masterpiece, could be j’s best song (you could argue against that of course ). Do you notice that little fury things and anything else on YLAOM does’nt sound the least bit outdated after 20 years. It never will, no one else has ever written a song like it before so it will always keep its originality. At the moment I have rediscovered repulsion -J really captured the sound of a scabby teenage hermit.

I totally agree about all of Dinosaur’s old stuff. I was thinking earlier today about how there’s heaps of stuff I used to listen to that sounds kinda dated today, but Dinosaur Jr is always fresh. I never used to be that keen on ‘Start Choppin’, but now I absoultely love it. I think I will have to go home a listen to ‘Where you Been’ as soon as I finish this damm assignment. Anyway, back to work…

If you want that LITTLE FURY THINGS feeling all over again,
download I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR YOU from Lou Barlow’s
site http://www.loobiecore.com (look in the SONG OF THE WEAK
                  section – and pan right).

                  You won’t be disappointed.

I love this song but I’ve always never been sure of the spelling of the title.

The lyrics are about a rabbit, right? So, I’ve always thought the song was titled Little Furry Things – it makes sense, you know, rabbits are furry!

It was a long time before I realised the title was in fact Little Fury Things, note the single "r". So, is J making some kind of comment about rabbits being furious, vicious creatures? Or is it just a mis-spelling?

Has anyone heard J actually say the title out loud to confirm if he means "furry" or "fury"?

                      It bugs me.

I’m sure I’ve heard J introduce it "Little Furry Things", it also rolls off the tongue a lot easier than "Fury Things"

Aw, I liked your post BEFORE the edit, it was awesome! :)

I’ll agree that "furry" certainly rolls of the tongue much better, especially as that’s what I’d always thought the title was originally too.

Guess it’s either just a deliberate misspelling or just a play on words by J.

J has said that the "Fury" in it means that the girl he’s talking about is obviously very intense and "Fury". However, every time I have heard him introduce the song, he always calls it "Little Furry Things". That’s what I always call it myself.

I’m sorry, I just fear some people will believe me. ;)

I think I’d call it little furry things too. It makes alot more sense. He may have left the R out to give us something to look for.

J.’s a master word twister. He leaves out parts of words, like, "Rabbit runs away from me…and then I’ll fall (ow)." He leaves many things open to the imagination. Maybe too many. But it’s OK. His words can also be arranged like anagrams; I can make another one up with "fury" but I’ll leave it up to your imagination. :icu:
