rambleon and all, Please teach me how to make that little black quote box. Rambleon you asked if I had any feelings on this, are you speaking of a long term Mascis, Schools and Spence line-up?
I would love that, I still hold out hope that J will move to Athens (to be closer to Dave and Kyle) and live here at least part time. We could run into J at the Daily Grocery while buying our bulk tofu, we could go trick-or treating at his house, all the hip Athens kids (Parents) know the BEST trick-or treat spots. Perhaps he could move to Athens and have little J’s and they could attend school at Athens Montessori and I could teach them, Okay, okay, its all about the music.
Yes, break out of the daydream and I think I would love to see this group of guys make a recording together but as far as long term being together, Dave and Kyle have a lot of paths open in front of them, so it is hard to say.
June 12, 2004 at 4:04 pm #102943I could see this line up lasting a while with limited shows (maybe a tour a year). Dave is a busy man. Although his main project is not touring until spring 2005 (Widespread Panic), he is currently touring with Jerry Joseph and Eric McFadden this summer as Stockholm Syndrome. He also is making a second ‘Slang’ album with Layng Martine III. He also plays with a band named ‘Acetate’ who play shows from time to time usually in Athens and Atlanta. Only time will tell. I would love to see them do another tour.
In response to a possible new Fog album: From http://widespreadpanic.com/theband/sidestage/fog.asp
Quote:In June Dave and J will head out on a short West coast tour that will bring the band from Seattle down to San Diego hitting most major cities in-between. The new Fog will likely record in late summer, more details will be posted as time goes along.June 13, 2004 at 8:00 am #102944I agree, I really hope we’ll have the chance to see this Fog lineup here in Europe!

…and it would be so great if there really were recording plans this year, hope to hear more about that!

If you want to quote something else, like lyrics or media stuff etc, you open the "post reply" window, paste or type what you want to quote, mark the text and press the "quote" button in the top row of the reply window.
June 13, 2004 at 9:24 am #102945I can’t think of a more perfect thing than for all of my fellow Freak Sceners from Europe to have a chance to see this line up.
Thanks FC for the advice, now I am going to practice a quote box.
June 13, 2004 at 8:46 pm #102946id say every fog lineup so far has been right on the money though
June 14, 2004 at 9:41 am #102947yeah, but the last fog lineup never made it to europe

… and yes, annastefka i was referring to the possibility of a longer term spence, schools, mascis lineup … at least for a few more tours … i guess i was reading the most recent w.coast tour reviews + was just thinking about the fact that the other 2 guys have a lot of other stuff going on, so i was just wondering if anyone had heard if they would be together any more after this tour … so thanks for everyone’s ideas … long live the current fog, we hope !
June 14, 2004 at 9:48 am #102948i just wanted to mention that quote button doesn’t work for me … i guess it’s just another one of those mac-related things …
June 16, 2004 at 11:23 am #102949hey i just flew back from the LA show. i flew from RI to see it and had a friend who lives in LA, and it was definitely worth the trip. the set list was a bit weird, reminded me of the last hand it over tour shpws where j was playing 20min. solos on everything, im still upset i didnt hear out there and yeah we know, but tarpit was ridiculous. i was the wasted guy in front screaming for thumb all nite, i started giving a thumbs-up and pointing to it. im sure he saw because the place was empty, and those record industry herbs are fucking weak, cant believe they get their own side entrance in LA. anyway, soon as he started strumming thumb i lost it, and yes the girl down front was extremely weird, j had to notice, but at least she knew some of the words. he better come home and play local with the band, ive seen the acoustic thing 12 times, it’s great but this new drummer is bananas, wish i couldve caught sonic youth down the street.
June 16, 2004 at 12:58 pm #102950hey hickorywind, cool to hear you had a great time at the show

must have been a great moment, when they finally played Thumb
June 16, 2004 at 1:29 pm #102951what made these freaks so freaky ? what were they doing ?
June 16, 2004 at 2:04 pm #102952i cant explain how she was dancing, like stevie nicks, a hippie and a crackhead combined i suppose. and there were 2 blonde groupies there for the bass player, and i knocked a drink out of the hands of an industry douche during sludgefeast, i was belligerent at that point. there was also a hot blonde and brunette by the bar making fun of people, i caught her imitating me (eyes closed, swaying and very high) so i called her a skank and continued rocking out, i also caught the photographer taking pics of me for some reason, i dont know who he was though. anyway it was worth the nightmarish turbulence from LAX to PVD…
June 16, 2004 at 2:40 pm #102953Quote:anyway it was worth the nightmarish turbulence from LAX to PVD…yikes

was the place mostly full of media types ? is this always the case in LA ?
was the photographer OSX maybe ?
June 16, 2004 at 2:51 pm #102954no, just a few standing around me, there coulnt have been more than 100 people on the floor and a few up top. i heard the sy show down the street was full of industry creeps, it was my first LA show but the people who were there seemd really into it.
June 16, 2004 at 3:11 pm #102955i guess it depends on the show, like here … some shows, you just can’t move for the media types …
… like the beachwood sparks show … which was a few years back now, but that’s what springs to mind …
June 16, 2004 at 3:16 pm #102956actually it’s not that they’re there on a freebie, it doesn’t matter to me whether they’ve paid or not as long as they’re into it … but that’s exactly the point … they’re not really into it … they’re mostly there to socialize (ie talk all thru the show) + they couldn’t give a rat’s patootie who’s on stage … either that or they’ve heard the band’s really cool + maybe they figure to be seen there = coolness … or they’ve been sent there to review a band they’re not really into anyhow …
