Lou`s 2 string bass

Have any of you noticed in the `little furry things` video that Lou`s bass only has 2 strings?Did he always do that when he was in Dinosaur?

Lou used to play chords on his base when J solo-ed!

I’ve heard that Kieth Richards likes to play his Telecaster guitar with 5 strings but a two string bass is sort of like a low tech joke of some kind.

The two string bass is great. Mark Sandman (Morphine) used to play one of those.

I think Lou when playing acoustic sometimes plays a 4 string guitar,he said once it was easier for him.I guess the same with the bass.

Ihad missed that when I watched the video.

This is of great interest to me as a bass player. Is it specially made, or did he just remove some strings?

I think he removed the strings.Lou once was at the local college station in 93,played 2 gigs in town,one went badly because people were talking too much,one went better.

i know lou plays a 6 stringed 12 string, with the two bass strings doubled (the e and a) so, it´s basically a 4 string. open a tuning (Ee,Aa, c#, e), try, it´s fun. with bass i don´t know, only that he had a rickebacker bass that he sold when he got kicked out of dinosaur. he plays jason´s bass during sebadoh shows (also a rickenbacker) but no owns a fender mustang bass. he plays with his fingers [img]images/smiles/converted/eek.gif[/img] and single notes. i LOVE his dino-strums. oh yeah, he plays gretsch guitars. anyway, who cares, i´m, just a hardcore-lou fan, so i had to say…..
