August 3, 2007 at 2:14 pm #131050lol, purple furniture.
August 3, 2007 at 3:42 pm #131051Lou seemed as if he was hung over from the watching of the dvd.
August 3, 2007 at 5:30 pm #131052i liked that interview.. haha
August 3, 2007 at 9:44 pm #131053Great interview. Murph seems like he’s ok with the touring.
August 4, 2007 at 9:56 am #131054lou looked bored as hell
August 4, 2007 at 3:21 pm #131055Yeah, after the initial rush and (cool) weirdness of the first year or so of playing together again, Dino has become a paycheck for Lou, plain and simple. Unfortunately, it’s showing a bit here and there in the live shows, but not always, at least.

He seems too enjoy alot of it but they have been touring like nonstop forever. Every other day there is a review of a new show in the live section of freakscene. I suspect he was just hungover from him n murph watching the dino dvd like he was talking about. Iam sure he gets bored every now and then but i would too playing for the most part J’s songs all the time. They all need a break.
August 4, 2007 at 10:07 pm #131057It helps me to live that Dino can be 40 and still be out there showing fun to everyone. I don’t think their music will ever quit attracting listeners, even if they just stopped touring and started recording a song every month. That’d be cool. Then we could really tell when Jya was on a downhill and notify him.
I don’t think any of the 3 members want to be there. :- I don’t want to say they are doing it out of obligation either, but it just seems like a real whacked idea to reunite after so many years, even though it has settled any disputed media attention about fueds between Lou and J. I never believed that anyway.

They all need a break.I’m not saying I blame the guy, just that whatever initial excitement drove the first bout of touring has (naturally) dissipated, leaving him and the other two with a fairly profitable job to do. When a band’s young they’ll play for nothing for the sheer excitement and sense of possible future success. When a band’s middle-aged, and its members have experienced the ups and downs of the music business, the middle path to relative financial stability presents a great opportunity, but one that can often feel like a job. I suspect that these upcoming US dates will be really good, though, since they’ll be seeing the light at the end of the touring tunnel, and each move westward will bring Lou that much closer to home.

Their goal might be to make an independent living, but only the super rich and image conscious music school brands get so rich that they let the business start to control them.
Dinosaur Jr.’s new album is real authentic in that respect, as it’s information does not draw a parellel with what record companies wanted them to write about, but rather with less vociferant issues. It’s jusy my opinion, when I expected to hear another YLAOM at the reunion release and it turned out to be one of the most different lyrically and musically with Lou and Muprh.

Their goal might be to make an independent livingThat’s all I mean by "success" — the ability to make a decent living by playing music. Even that modest goal eludes most working musicians. As J has been known to say: "It’s a shit business."
My quibbles with the mix aside, Beyond *is* a great record. I find myself going back to it more and more often lately.

That’s very rock and roll for the band to be able to hire a Leer Jet. You know Camel cigarettes owed them that anyway.
