The MC5 is always worth blah blah blahing about,they were amazing.read some of it,i`ll read more of it later,thanks for the link Allison!
I did`nt know Tyner named himself after McCoy Tyner,that`s awesome!one of my fav jazz pianists,maybe someday i`ll name myself after a jazz musician.They also mention Marcus Belgrave working with Rob,that`s cool,he`s a great trumpet player from Detriot,cool that he would work with a pre punk icon like Rob,some jazz guys are so anti rock and roll it`s good that some are open minded.
Last year i bought a album by a band called Delta 72,the notes on the back were written by John Sinclair!he was saying stuff like we need music to battle the shit in life-well put.
I`ll read more later and problably comment again later,thanks again.ps-the 2 Sonic Rendezvous songs did finally download,so they`ll pop up on a upcoming mix tape soon.

Thought you would like the jazz connections, great links at the bottom of the initial page as well…Sonics Rendezvous page is pretty thrilling. Some wicked pics of pretty out there guitar posturing by Kramer and Sonic Smith as well, very cool.
Friend of mine interviewed John Sinclair awhile back, it was pretty cool. Another pal is interviewing Wayne Kramer in the near future so will give you the link for that when it comes up…should be interesting. Bum thou, he didn’t even have Mad For The Racket or Cyberpunk, had to lend him mine…hopefully get them back soon. Heard Chewed by Mad For The Racket last evening on a local radio show…think it may have been my copy:aliensmile:

I have been blah blah blahing about The MC5 for quite awhile here, they are one of the precursors to the late 70’s punk scene…very very cool. I came upon them after the fact, so hopefully some of you can appreciate them for what they were to music. I know we have some fans of The MC5/Sonics Rendevous Band here so hope you like this link

Allison-Just read Brother Wayne`s interview,I like alot of the jazz refrences,very cool;he was right about Miles starting fusion and leading to crap like kenny g and lite jazz(elevator music for zombies),kinda like Nirvana starting the alt rock thing and leading to bland bands.
The MC5 does have a important place in 20th century music whether people know it or not,they made alot of noise for a short time,but since that music is documented in their albums,their legacy will live on.
I like Wayne talking about free jazz and how it was political jazz as opposed to the more conservative stuff,free jazz really was punk and underground music,they were`nt rock musicians but despite music style the ideas and energy was the same as punk rock.
Liked all the fav albums list there too,Kramer likes Coltrane`s Ascension,I love that piece too,all 40 minutes of it.
Asheton likes Pharoah Sanders`s Upper Egypt,cool Ron!I heard that recently,it`s on one of my mix tapes lists.

Thought you would love those articles, the whole site is pretty cool actually. Tons of archived interviews…sebadoh, asheton to mention just a couple. The tributes section has a pretty cool Stooges bit, Mingus and various other cool bands new and old. Have only browsed thru a few d/t the length of some of them…damn this short attention span of mine [img]images/smiles/converted/eek.gif[/img] But something to check out when you want to avoid doing real work…I am getting pretty good at that [img]images/smiles/converted/rolleyes.gif[/img]

Cool reading indeed, I really love Ascension too. Became aware of Pharoah Sanders after picking up Coltrane’s Meditations and was like christ I gotta get more into this when hearing those high squeky sounds of his. Never heard anything quite like it. The only Pharoah albums I’ve had the opportunity to listen to are Karma, Thembi and Deaf dumb blind though, of which I’d say I like Karma the best. I take it I’d better check out Upper Egypt now. What else is hot?Sonny Sharrock`s 91 album Ask The Ages is great,check that out,Pharoah is on it and Elvin Jones(Coltrane`s drummer from 60-65).
