you ever been to one of their "headphone concerts"?

I went to a couple headphone shows, the MABD tour in Minneapolis with Sebadoh & a couple other bands warming up… 8)

I used them thru the whole Lips show on the 1st nite, strange but cool experience. Thru the whole club you got great sound, upstairs/downstairs, even waiting at the bar  Strangely isolating though, but looking around seeing everyone smiling with headphones on was a cool thing. They do have a great live show 8)

I’m pleased they’ve added a drummer for their live shows, just not the same with taped tracks/pics of him drumming on the screen!

That sounds like such a cool experience! Especially the great sound everywhere + "isolation" part. And I really admire them for coming up with an idea like that. Saw them this summer and it was great, lots of big balloon balls and a great setlist.

The lips definitely put on a great enthusiastic show, but I saw them so many times over the last couple of years, I think I need to hold out until their setlist changes a bit. I know over on the lips board, quite a few people have been putting in tons of suggestions to change the setlist up. Kliph (the added drummer) has actually been on the board quite a few times and has even responded to the setlist question. He says he’s all for it, and would LOVE to see Wayne & Co. dig out some of the old material…It’s just a matter of them actually doing it. I think they’re riding the Yoshimi popularity train as long as they can, and when that comes to a stop, they might mix things up a bit more. I’d love to see that too. I’m definitely a fan of their earlier/noisier stuff.

Don’t know how early you mean by earlier stuff, but I’ve got some boots from 93-94 and they are brilliant!
