December 13, 2001 at 6:29 pm #83488Cool mix Matt!
Mould stories:
Once I was playing Art Crisis from the Hubcap album and the milkman wanted to know who it was,he thought it was cool.
My mom used to buy me music magazines at the grocery store, she started talking to the guy bagging the groceries about the music I like and mentioned that I liked Husker Du,the next time she was at the store the guy told her he bought a Husker Du cd and it was really cool.
December 14, 2001 at 5:06 pm #83489Cool mix Mattman, but ever since I saw it have been playing Sweet Serene over and over…god I love that song. Eternally Fried, is that one about Grant…anyone know for sure?

December 14, 2001 at 10:42 pm #83490Great compilation, Mattman!
Mould has made some (understatement…) fine songs, and this mix made me play ‘Workbook’ once again, at the moment it has reached ‘Compositions for the young and old’, great song as well!December 18, 2001 at 5:25 am #83491i like husker du, but i can’t say i have really listened to any of his solo stuff. i remember when that Sugar album ‘copper blue’ came out and i saw a video for a song off that. it was alright.
but my point is that sugar is the only band whose cds i will repeatedly find in thrift stores while everything else they have is utter shit that you have never heard of. why is this?
December 18, 2001 at 10:52 am #83492Either those people are insane, or are Grant Hart fans feeling guilty about supporting Bob
But really Sugar are one of my favorite things. FUEL is just as pleasing as Copper Blue, and BEASTER is outstanding. Lots of great singles as well with bonus acoustic stuff….sweet. Some of Bobs solo stuff I find kinda intense, not saying I don’t like it or anything but will usually put on Sugar. LDAPS by Mould has some wicked tunes on it as well.
Launch.com has a bunch of videos by Sugar…very cool you should check it out.
Allison…oh yeah, go buy some Sugar

December 18, 2001 at 11:07 am #83493I once saw Sugar`s Beaster at Walmart
Yeah,I see alot of Sugar albums around used, alot of the cd singles too since they were obsolete with the Besides compilation.Beaster is my fav Sugar release,6 songs,31 minutes.
Speaking of Sugar, back in May I bought an album by Kustomized,it`s led by Peter Prescott of Mission Of Burma and the Volcano Suns. The drummer from Sugar-Malcolm Travis is the drummer on it.I also heard he now plays in the Willard Grant Conspiracy, kinda of a Doors/Nick Cave/Tindersticks/Smog/Tom Waits hybrid band.December 19, 2001 at 2:23 am #83494Well, if you ask me, everything Mould touches is golden.. But I guess that makes me a fan.
Gotta agree with Allison, that anyone who’d let go of anything Sugar, especially Beaster, is having brain problems. Also gotta agree with Allison that Sweet Serene is one of Moulds best songs ever.
A lot of Mould’s solo stuff is very intense and raw. He doesn’t tend to pull any punches on those. Last Dog and Pony show being probably the easiest to digest, but Black Sheets of Rain, oh my but that is a dark album… Still, I like it. Sometimes heavier, moodier music is necessary at certain times.
