It seemed a perfect compliment to Salami’s topic…

I guess my choice would be either:

Nirvana – In Utero
Steven Malkmus – Self-Entitled

Not that either aren’t good records, they just aren’t the messianic pronouncements people have made them out to be.

Oh, and N’Sync’s "Celebrity" album… it lacked the fury of their earlier releases.

I don`t want to talk about overated albums because I`ll just blab about the Pumpkins,NIN,etc. like we did before,so I`ll keep my mouth shut other than offending you Jaron or anyone else.
I`ll talk about the stuff you mentioned-
In Utero-I think it`s probably their best from what I heard from it,I never bought a Nirvana album in my life,I heard most of the songs from this though,is the production of Steve Albini you don`t like Jaron, his production from the early 90`s is`nt everyones favorite,he changed his production sound a little since then, like on the MOA albums;they call him ‘Battlestar Shellactica’ ;in reference of the band he plays in-Shellac.
Malkmus solo album-I`ve heard two songs from it,good but problably overrated, the drummer from Pavement has a new band that `s kinda cool called Marble Valley;I heard a song on the radio that was pretty good, one lyric is"A jedi knight and a rollar derby queen, they were twisting and shaking on the washing machine".

Go ahead. It’s pretty hard to offend me. Different opinions converging on a topic is where true conversation begins. It’s no fun if we all sit around and agree all day.

Most overrated albums of the 90’s

Radiohead – OK Computer (pretentious intellectual "music", where have the songs gone)
anything by Bjork (I just don’t see what the critics like about her)
anything by Oasis (luckily nearly forgotten by now)

By the way, I really like the Stephen Malkmus album (and I think it was released in 2001, so it doesn’t qualify for "most overrated album of the 90’s )

I think it was released in 2000, off hand, but still you’re right.

I agree entirely on Bjork… never got it.

well, Björk .. I like her personality (as she displays it) and I liked the movie ‘Dancer In The Dark’, but her music is very, uhm, special … don’t like it too much.

Yeah, I liked Dancer In The Dark, too… but that doesn’t redeem her "special" music, in my mind…

I own all the pumpkins albums and think nothing comes close too Simese dream. How can i put it, the rest of their albums suck big time. I think all the good songs went with billy’s hair(he is the biggest wanker on this earth)
And to add to that, they put on the worst concert known to man!

Do you have Gish? He had long hair then too…

I think my favorite is Siamese or Adore… depending on my mood.

I can live with the Billy/Pumpkins diss… but if you go on to praise the latest N’Sync album (note for those who missed it earlier: missing the fury of earlier releases), then we’ll have a problem…

Billy Corgan still had his hair when Mellon Collie was Released.
