Just want an idea of what everybody thinks was the best music in Dinosaur’s career whether you like Lou or not.

It’s a hard question but I can easily say with Lou for sure….. what’s your opinion :)

I’m going to say the "with Lou" years even though Where You Been is my favorite and Dinosaur is one of my least-favorites. YLAOM and Bug are both very strong.

With Lou, definitely. But I love everything after as well, especially the remastered Green Mind… ;D

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again….

Lou puts the "Dinosaur" in "Dinosaur Jr"

                    definitely with.

                    YLAOM.

                    Bug.

                    even Dinosaur.

above and beyond all of the rest. i’m sure i upset some people by saying Dinosaur is one of their best, but it is hard to beat Repulsion, Bulbs of Passion, and Forget the Swan.

i do like the post Lou stuff, but it just doesn’t hold a candle in my opinion.

I agree. Dinosaur Jr with Lou on bass was always much better than without him. I still like Dino’s material after Lou left. But it was less consistant and daring. You’re Living All Over Me and Bug are still better than Green Mind and onward. Although Green Mind and Wehre You Been were great records in their own right’s too. Just not quite as good as the lou era stuff.

Well, my favorite album is Bug, but I’ll still say without Lou. I really like songs from YLAOM individually, songs like Sludgefeast, Raisans and Tarpit are just great, but as an album it ain’t that great really. I hate Lose somehow and what sucks the most is the cover song in the end (altough I’m not quite sure if it was like that in the original version). Songs without Lou, altough not so "daring", are more stable and provide much more solid album unities. Where you been is one of the best albums as a whole ever. Same goes with Green Mind. This is not Lou’s fault though, the songs without Lou would probably have been better with Lou. And Bug is always the favorite ;)

i sort of agree with your comments. You’re Living All Over Me has the best lineup of classic Dinosaur songs, imo. but i just don’t really like the end of the record. i mean, i like all the songs on the record (even the previous Show Me the Way cover), but its just not how i really wanted the album to end.

But originally Poledo was the last song. Show Me the Way was thrown on when they put the album on CD I think. I think YLAOM is probably their "best" album objectively speaking though I personally like WYB better.

well, still, i not happy how the album ended even with just Poledo.
