tuesday-saturday, i drove around saw 3 dinosaur shows then saw sonic youth/ween/the flaming lips in NY the next night. Heres some reviewage:
Tuesday: Brooklyn, great great show. my first dinosaur show in almost 9 months (since december middle east shows). Lots of energy in this set j was going crazy. Greeat to hear lose 2nd, that song is so rockin. Great to hear does it float make it back in to the setlist full time (heard it all 3 nights, hadnt heard it much before that). Mountain man was great and i allways love a tarpit opener.
Setlist:Tarpit, Lose, Kracked, Does it Float?, Lung, In a Jar, Post, Wagon, Budge, Forget the Swan, Little Fury Things, Raisans
E:Freakscene, Mountain Man, Sludge
I talked to jason Lowenstein after the show, he was hangin out. He’s a great man.
Wednesday: Tooads Place. Also a very good show, some of my best friends were there and it was a very particular night given the stolen gear. That didnt effect anyones playing though it was stil very high energy. I havent seen lou play that thunderbird bass since the folk implosion days. That was great and that other fender bass with the flowers on it was cool too. Both sounded real great.
Setlist: Gargoyle, Kracked, Wagon, Tarpit, Lung, In a Jar, Does it Float?, Little Fury Things, Forget the Swan, Lose, Raisans, Sludge
E:Just Like Heaven, Freakscene, Mountain Man
I got a video of Kracked->the middle of in a jar. Then a staff dude said i cant tape in the venue. Came out real good videowise though, if anyone has good audio id say itd be worth synching up just for the 4-5 songs.
Thursday: Buffalo. MAYBE THE BEST DINOSAUR SHOW IVE EVER SEEN! haha. Just really great sound, everything so clear, the band was really back on track. Lou used the FLower bass the whole time. Sounded real good. QUEST!!! first time ive seen quest in 12 dinosaur shows. Bulbs of passion was amazing although ive seen it a bunch, i hadnt seen it in a while. CHUNKS! amazing.
Gargoyle, Kracked, Does It Float, Post, Wagon, Lung, Little Fury Things, Quest, Budge, Forget The Swan, Raisans, Sludgefeast
E:Bulbs of Passion, Freak Scene, Chunks
Friday: Syracuse. Sonic Youth, Ween, Flaming Lips. Sonic Youth was amazing. Played lots of Great old stuff as well as new stuff. Candle, Teenage Riot, 100%. Great set 11 songs.
Candle, Reena, Incinerate, Teenage Riot, Do You Believe in Rapture, Skip Tracer, What a Waste, Turquoise Boy, 100%, Jams Run Free, Pink Steam
Ween was amazing. Really got over well with sonic youth fans whod never heard them. Really rockin set. Dean Ween rips those solos.
Flaming Lips. They were pretty good. I thought both other bands had a lot more genuine energy. Pretty good set though i was into some songs.
Race For the Prize, Free Radicals, Yoshimi 1, Yoshimi 2, Vein of Stars, Yeah Yeah Yeah Song, The W.A.N.D., My Cosmic Autumn Rebellion, She Don’t Use Jelly, Do You Realize??
E:A Spoonful Weighs a Ton

Ween happens to be one of my fav bands of all time, I really wanted to see them, but I just wasn’t able to do it. It’s almost been a year since it’s happened, better break out the boognish and go to the next show.

Not sure if they’ll keep playing them as the last two were the encores and I thought I heard them say that they were "special" songs.
September 4, 2006 at 11:27 am #121781Sweet, I think they are playing Shaking Hell pretty often as the last song of the encore which is a great way to finish. I’m hoping that they will pull out a "special" set list at the ATP.

Ween is great in the fact they can play with almost any other band and still be loved, I love how they’re getting themselves in the Jam Rock scene.

i just hope they stay away from the jamband scene and stick more to the good and "real" experimental bands like sonic youth and the lips. im sure they get tooons of money for playing those hippy festivals and shit though, so i cant blame them for playing with those shitty bands.
