Now there are four Ibanez guitars I would own: 1.Jem 2.RG350DX 3.Paul Gilbert model and the newest one to the lineup is (yeah yeah…I dont like the player, just the guitar) the new Mick 7 M1. That thing is pretty friggin nice. It has hard tail bridge and a locking nut….kool!
Anyone have any info on the IT series guitars from B.C. Rich? I cant find much on them.

November 10, 2006 at 7:33 pm #117944Fender Jazzmasters, Flying V’s, old flame-top sunburst Les Pauls, Rickenbacker 325’s(+1 to whoever said that previously) .
Those squiers, especially the Super Sonics are starting to become collectors pieces. I saw two today at the Philly Guitar show and they were $500 a piece on dealer day. They were, however, mint.
The eastwood is a cool guitar. It is actually closer to an Mosrite than the Hi-flyer(which originally copied Mosrite, but got it all wrong, and made an awesome guitar.) The high Flyer is only like an inch thick. An old Mos is like 1.75 and the Eastwood is that or more. It has a set neck and feels kinda like a Gibson copy. The mos and flyer have bolts but the Mos is HEAVY! The Eastwood does a good job of copying the Hi-Flyer pick-ups, but they need new pots.
November 11, 2006 at 5:33 pm #117945I haven’t played the Mosrites or the Eastwoods…or the GPC’s or Wilson Bros. for that matter, but I really like my Hi-flyer a lot. The P-90’s are pretty good in them (to me) they range from nice thick and warm, way bright and twangy and then in between of course. They are actually not THAT thin, they are pretty thin at around 1 1/2" thick though. Standard guitars and basses are 1.75" thick so it’s not much difference. They are bolt on and are ply-wood. The plys are very thin and its kinda hard to tell sometimes, but they are. For what they are they are really cool guitars. The back of the neck is really kool, I haven’t seen that many guitars with a neck like this, it has a pretty thin neck and is flat on the back. Even Ibanez necks that I have played on have fully rounded necks. The necks are pretty thin too, so it would be easy to play faster things on (if you were so inclined). The bridge however limits the speed of your playing by being high and setting your action kinda higher than most speed freaks play. The Hi-flyers were built from like ’68 into the 80’s so they weren’t built for speed anyways…just giving you ideas of what they feel like. They do have pretty fair action (coming from a guy who also plays a Martin D-28 with 11’s and a 1974 Mustang with 12’s). As for the controls, they did ok with the basics. 1 volume, 1 tone, a three way toggle (on mine, early versions have two rocker switches) and the jack. The placement of the knobs are good and a little better than a strat, in that when I palm mute I dont ask myself why my guitar is quiet and sounds bad then realise that my pinky has turned the knob to 3 or 4. The toggle gets in the way of some players that have played the guitar, but I play at the neck so I’m alright with it..stock Les Pauls and the like are a different story though.
Well, there is my review of the Hi-flyer. Take it or leave it, it’s one guys opinion of a guitar, not everyone will agree. I am starting to make some Mosrite copies of my own, I have so far made the bodies of a hollow body and a solid body…they have turned out nicely.
