cool, Marjorie Fair played as the opening act for Modest Mouse in Cologne and I liked them. I would’ve bought their album if they sold it there….
live they’re much darker and denser than on record, though. the album is a bit too sleekly produced, I think, but still cool :)

My friend on another site suggested Marjorie Fair to me recently :) I have`nt checked them out yet.

cool, check Marjorie Fair, SG, they’re good, I mean I like them despite the quite polished sound on the album, but what could you expect from a major label debut album… I guess the band didn’t have the chance to influence enaugh how it came out. their show was very very good, though :)

I’m still completely thrown over by Blonde Redhead, I still have their albums on rotation, can’t stop playing them over and over again…

…still! these albums are so addictive!

              and also:
              Richard Buckner – Since
…I liked it from the start, and it’s of the kind of albums that grow with listening :)

Jim White – Drill A Hole In That Substrate And Tell Me What You See
….alone the title made me want to listen to that album  I just listened once so far, and I can say it has some great moments. I’ll take some closer listens for sure.

              thanks for the great recommendations!

(Adam Green’s former band, very Lo-Fi, anti-folk kind of music, which turns out to be very charming, with the female co-singer. thanks Robert, for pointing me to that album!)

Mark Lanegan – I’ll Take Care Of You

I kinda neglected the great solo works of Mark Lanegan for quite a while, but with the new album and the upcoming gig, I tore his older albums out of my pile again and have to say to myself, what a great singer/songwriter! I like his solo works definitely more than QUOTSA or the Screaming Trees.
