I listened to Dinosaur Jr in September of 2001 for the first time. I had known the name for a few years prior, but after hearing good words about them as from Kurt Cobain and Krist Novoselic’s voice from the past in the Come As You Are bio, I finally decided to give them a listen.I am 16 now and since that September, Dinosaur Jr and J Mascis material has been among my favorite music. I have been playing guitar and percussion instruments for about five years now and I also listen to Flaming Lips (1985-1995 period), Brian Jonestown Massacre,Rusted Root, XTC, Meat Puppets,Animal Bag and a bit of Kula Shaker for my Neo-Psychedelic/Alternative tastes. For my Psychedelic ’60’s tastes I like The Beatles (1965-1970), The Moody Blues, King Crimson,Yes and a few other classics of the like. I also like New-Age stuff like Ah Nee Mah and Craig Chaquico, Contemporary Jazz/Fusion like The Rippingtons, and also World music from India and Egypt, authentic didgeridoo, and Native American music.

I have my own band entiteld "Minerva" and it is a combination of these seperate forces. If anyone may be interested in my music then just contact me for more information. I plan on being a recording artist so I am getting an early start on the journey. 8)

Welcome to the boards cloudsofminerva  :)

It`s good to see someone 16 into so many different kinds of music 8) since I was 14 I`ve gone from listening to The Beatles to Genesis to blues and jazz to 20th century classical music to country and folk and whatever else in between.
I recommend checking out Genesis` early albums since you like Yes and King Crimson. For jazz fusion check out Al Di Meola,I have been listening to him alot recently.
For Psychedelia you must check out the 13th Floor Elevators, their Easter Everywhere album is amazing and a fave album of J`s.

              Welcome aboard.

How come you don’t like post-’95 Flaming Lips? I’n my opinion all of their albums have been perfect since 89 but I don’t care for the pre-Dave Friedman stuff

I’m guessing your adsl is even better if you havent had a connection for a while
