Being 17 years old and having your favorite band come to town should be an absolute blessing. But not if it’s at a bar that won’t let you in unless you’re 18. I’m a big Dinosaur Jr. fan, not some Green Mind, Without a Sound person. I want to hear Little Fury Things. I want to hear Let it Ride. I want to hear Lou shred his vocal chords to pieces singing Don’t. But no. Dinosaur Jr. are punk purists, and they should know first hand what it’s like to not be able to get into shows underage, and should know the feeling of rejection, because that’s what it is, you feel rejected by your favorite band, that comes with having to stand outside and listen through the wall as the fans that are of age have a great time inside packed with other fans. If you’re going to the Memphis, look outside for the pissed off kid with short hair and please buy me a beer.

i understand your displeasure but it may not be the bands fault. it may abe an issue of that being the only venue in town that they could book and fill and perhaps it was the venues rules. maybe because of the presence of alcohol or maybe even for curfew. who knows. i had the same problem seeing the fog for the first time but i talked the girl at the door into letting me sneak in anyway. but regardless, that is a ratty situation but id refrain from feeling "rejected" or angry towards the band. they still make great music and this is the last year youll ever have to worry about being under 18.

sometimes if you go in with an adult they’ll let you in, like at an R-Rated movie. spring for a ticket for your dad, have him go in and then he can just leave. don’t sweat looking uncool.

I have tickets for the Memphis show. I was not aware that it was an 18+ show.

I thought it was 21+ actually..

Not all Memphis people are dicks.

well i’m taking someones advice on hanging out at YAD for a few hours and trying to meet the band, and maybe getting in. so maybe i’ll see you there. if not, i’ll be the kid outside, and probably the only one due to the lack of 17 year old dinosaur fans here.
