Speaking of new guitars….look at what I bought for $30.
This is before I relic-ed it. I am actually still in the process of doing this as it takes a couple months to relic your guitar the right way. (Waiting for paint to cure before cracking it etc. etc.).

When I got it from my drummer, it was an ordinary black and white strat (Squier) with stickers all over it. I stripped all of the stickers off, burnt the paint off (heat gun….love ’em) and then refinished it. It still has the clear grain filler type junk fender puts on their guitars, but taking four different colors off of it helps it breathe. It was white, NEON PINK.. red, then black. Now it is white with Harbor Blue over top of it and relic-ed. I was going to refinish it to surf green, but….I’ll get another one to do that to. So yeah, go there….look at it, questions and comments are always enjoyed.

Wow, that’s an impressive paint job, RJ!!!

Having a cheap guitar to make your own is pretty cool. I did that with my Mex Strat. New tuners, pickups, pick guard, electronics, etc… Basically made it like an original ’54 Start, and came in way under what a reissue would cost.

The next project I’m thinking of undertaking is building a "Partscaster" (Tele style) from stuff I find on ebay. A neck here, a body there, you get the idea…

thanks Mattman….that was before I did more with relic-ing. I still have some more to go though.
I’m also itching for a new telecaster. I suppose I will have to build one completely to get what I want out of it though. I want it to be about the same color as my strat (Harbor Blue – Wal*Mart paint) with w/b/w binding, w/b/w/tortoise pickguard. A Seymour Duncan SH-4, some cool single coil in the middle, and a SH-1 in the neck. I want a whammy bar on it, but strat type or Bigsby? Most likely the Bigsby. Maple neck, w/b/w bound rosewood fingerboard, and other cool parts I’ll find later. I think it would be really cool, and if I could keep the weight down, it would be even better. I may end up making it a semi-hollow, but with no sound hole.
Anyways, that’s my frankentele ideas.

Also, I like that epi Matt…….
