Hey everybody… Um well I am from Atlanta, GA and I’m 17 years old, and I’ve only recently gotten into Dinosaur Jr. from hearing about them at a Sonic Youth concert back in June (great show btw) and seeing a few of their videos. I loved everything about them with J’s crazy solos and the great rhythm the band mantains. I’m in an altrenative/grunge band were I play guitar and there music has already had a great impact on how I look at music now. Although like many bands they probably won’t come to Atlanta because a lot of bands seem to avoid the south. It’s is okay because I plan to see them one day.

May 6, 2007 at 10:41 pm #128579I see a fan……a Georgia fan, now I understand Fata.
Welcome Blew…..I’m in Athens and I have children almost your age!
I don’t think a lot of bands avoid the South……in fact Dinosaur Jr, J Mascis and the Fog and J solo have been
in Georgia many times in the several years……is there someone in particular who you feel is avoiding the South?
Dinosaur Jr will be here……….perhaps in the late Fall.My daughter, who is almost 13, told me the other day, I like some songs from Beyond.
She especially likes "I got Lost" and "Almost Ready" this was a major breakthrough for us,

May 9, 2007 at 5:54 pm #128584Hi, all. Just recently discovered DJ after being in a musical coma for so many years. Have read more than once over the past year or so that Doug Marsch of Built to Spill (another recent discovery) considers J a major influence in his music. Finally got a copy of Ear-Bleeding Country and liked what I heard. "Beyond" is in heavy rotation currently. Now I have to get all the previous stuff in their entirety! What’s sort of funny/ interesting/whatever is that I was living in western Mass. just around the time J and Lou were getting it going – – didn’t know they were out there (I said I was in a coma, right?). Well, better late than never! Not sure I’ll contribute much to these proceedings, but I’ve enjoyed reading the posts of DJ enthusiasts. Thanks for humoring an old man!
May 9, 2007 at 6:19 pm #128585I’m sorry, Blew – – didn’t mean to step on your thread! I’m a little challenged…

No it’s okay I understand… Don’t worry about it. I was in a musical coma until 2 years ago…

.Yeah? Well that’s good I’ve been trying to get all my other friends that haven’t heard of them to listen and they have all give possitive reactions so that’s good. That’s awsome that you have kids who like Dinosaur Jr.
I’m glad you said Dinosaur Jr. is coming to Atlanta then, but what I ment was bands like Pearl Jam will probably never come to the south… But I still love them!I’ve also pretty much given up on my generation’s ("Generation Y"… more like generation why bother) music fall out boy, my chemical romance, and all those other emo clowns don’t represnt me and my friends. My heros are Dinosaur Jr (of course), David Bowie, Lou Reed, Iggy and the Stooges, Nirvana (I know everyone likes them but I like them too), Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Mudhoney, Meat Puppets, Pixies, Sonic Youth, Dead Boys, Black Flag, and I could go on for hours…. There are some new bands out there I like but there not as important to me as these guys…
