This will save me the good money I’d otherwise have spent on the Japanese issue.
Hey, thanks for the link! I always kick myself for pre-ordering a copy and missing out on the CDs with all the extras.
April 30, 2009 at 10:53 am #134742I talked to a guy at Jagjaguwar that told me there will be a pre-order deal directly from their webstore. I’ll buy my copies there.
April 30, 2009 at 12:40 pm #134743Sounds a little like Tell The Truth to me, with the Hey
April 30, 2009 at 1:16 pm #134744imo, it’s got a somewhat Fog vibe to it indeed, but not without a fair touch of "Without A Sound"… it’s fun, finding traces of old flavors in a new tune.

So now we have:
I Don’t Want To Go = Too Hard
I Want You To Know = Tell The TruthSo far I’m liking, not loving the new stuff. Generally, the first new songs I hear from these guys aren’t my favorites so I’m hoping the best is yet to come.
April 30, 2009 at 3:12 pm #134746I am really loving this new track! Can’t wait for the whole album to get here
April 30, 2009 at 4:52 pm #134747I feel the exact opposite about both new tracks.
To me, with the exception of Lou’s tracks and It’s Me, Beyond sounded like a Fog record — J’s songs with an indifferent rhythm section. That’s not to say I didn’t like it — I loved it, as I love the Fog material. But nothing about the songs or the sound screamed "DINO!" to me.
These new songs sound like J’s writing with the Lou/Murph rhythm section expressly in mind, which makes them sound specifically like Dino tracks to my ears.
"Tell the Truth" never occurred to me even the tiniest bit in listening to "I Want You to Know." The rhythm is 100% different, the chords are totally different, the melody is totally different. One "Hey" doth not "Tell the Truth" make.
April 30, 2009 at 4:55 pm #134748Alright, I gave I Want You To Know two more listens and am liking it more and more. I think J was a little lazy with the lyrics but love the solo and overall feel of the song.
It also doesn’t sound as much like a Fog tune after a couple more listens. I agree with King Tubby that Beyond sounded more like a Fog record and am hoping this one ends up in more of a Dino direction. From what Lou has said in interviews, it should.
April 30, 2009 at 6:22 pm #134749I don’t have the effort to type long enough to get into it but the hey is the same note in both songs, FOg albums had J on drums, we’ll here I go, got to listen to it for the first time loud now.
April 30, 2009 at 6:31 pm #134750Over It is even better!
Here’s both of the tracks
96kbps is the raw file from the myspace

April 30, 2009 at 8:00 pm #134751Stop your comparing. the sound just goes on. The Fog, Dino… whatever. It’s the same. I mean. J’s tunes wouldn’t change that much. Everything sounds better with Lou and Murph. but I don’t think J write different tunes for Fog, Solo or Dino.
May 1, 2009 at 2:59 am #134752well, thank you for the notification!
seems like "Farm" is slowly leaking onto the interweb, track by track… purposefully… well, I don’t mind
"Over It" is the only new song that didn’t have any incubation period at all, it just kicked in with the awsum right away… it’s a good single then
makes me understand "I Want You To Know" 100% now. Pity there’s so little lead action.Anyway, I come bearing a gift to those who keep the watch and everybody else following along. I snagged the mp3s in 192… somewhat more listenable than 96, so I’m sharing them with you

May 1, 2009 at 8:26 am #134753Yeah, thanks for letting us know about the new track on Myspace!
Over It is my favorite so far I think. I’m really anxious to hear the long version of I Don’t Want To Go, though. The Pitchfork version was shorter than what’s supposed to be on the album…
May 1, 2009 at 8:41 am #134754Thanks for the link to the 192kbps MP3s. Having listened to both for most of the day, I’m immediately liking Over It, but can’t get very excited about the other one. Overall though, I think the Pitchfork I Don’t Wanna Go There is my favorite Farm-related track. That said, I’ve heard that at least 100 times, so perhaps the others will grow. It’ll be interesting to hear what Imagination Blind is like when electrified.
Simon.
May 1, 2009 at 9:44 am #134755After a couple listens I added my own guitar to I want you to know, just for fun. You can hear it on my http://www.myspace.com/spiralwall
