J MASCIS HOSPITALISED AFTER BUS CRASH

J MASCIS has been forced to cancel the rest of his European tour after being hospitalised in a minibus crash.
A spokesperson for Mascis’ record label City Slang told NME.COM today (June 18) that the ex- Dinosaur Jr frontman’s bus was involved in a crash in Sweden as the band travelled to Germany from the Hultsfred Festival.

According to a source at his European label, the accident took place last night (June 17), with the bus sliding off a motorway and into a ditch on its side at 70mph. Mascis is said to be suffering from two broken vertebrae in his back as a result of the crash. The rest of the members of the bus escaped with cuts and bruises.

Following the crash Mascis was taken to a nearby hospital. As of today, (June 18), Mascis is walking with the aid of a stick, and said to be recovering well.

Because of his injuries, all the band’s remaining European shows, mainly in Germany, have been pulled, and he is set to return to the US tomorrow.
