I remember staying up late to watch a TV show here in the UK called ‘No Nirvana’ – it was, I think presented by Jo Whiley from Radio One and I remember watching these bands:-

Sonic Youth – played ‘Drunken Butterfly’
Dinosaur Jr – played Get Me (Murph on drums, Mike on bass)
      Screaming Trees – ‘Dollar Bill’
Smashing Pumpkins – ‘Rhinoceros’ (Billy had long hair)
Belly – a song from ‘Star’
Jane’s adiction – Been caught stealin’

I can’t rememer anymore right now… i’ve looked on YouTube and can only find ‘Sugar’ playing ‘helpless’…

I’m sure I have some of it taped on VHS at my Mums house… does anyone remember this show? Remember the ‘howling wolf’ logo for the show?

I’d love to watch it again because J plays the best solo at the end of Get Me… the best i’ve ever heard for that sonf live anyway.

This show was great becuase it introduced me to a bunch of bands i’d only heard whispers of… it must have been around 1991 or 2… at a time when, for me, there was no internet, email, MTV or any decent music mags in my small town… John Peel and mix tapes was about the only way to hear new music from the US… the UK at the time was concerned with the aftermath of Rave… bad news.
