There have been about a week’s worth of shows and no word from anyone who went. Weird…..

May 29, 2007 at 5:39 pm #129451Uh, well, what do you want me to say? I was at the Calgary show. It went pretty much exactly like all the other recent reviews.
It was my first time seeing them. They weren’t as loud as all you guys keep saying they are, but I’d wear plugs if I saw them again.
Lou came out to do an acoustic set. The crowd didn’t seem to recognize him, so I said "Hi Lou!" and a few people woke up. Then he stopped the first song to give some guys crap for talking. Then he stopped it again to laugh at himself for stopping it. Then after the first song he told a story about making some girl cry when he gave her crap for talking.
So don’t talk during Lou’s acoustic set!
That’s pretty much how his set went. He’d stop the song to crack jokes or make comments any time. It was a nice set, I liked it.
Awesome Color came out. They were noisy and the singer/guitar player was drunk as fuck. He kept saying "YEEEEAAAAAH" and quoting Pootie Tang nonsensical phrases between songs. I liked their set. Even though they played one song twice. In a row. They made a lot of racket, which endeared them to me. Though looking at them made me feel goddamn ancient. The drummer almost pushed her drumset off the stage with the PURE FURY of her ROCK.
But I kinda like everybody when the kick drum is pounding in my chest.
Then Dino came out and were Dino. J seemed distant, Murph seemed businesslike, Lou seemed to be having fun. You couldn’t hear J’s vocals a lot of the time, and whenever he said something between songs nobody was expecting it and everyone was like, "huh?" Lou started to comment on the pot smoke in the air, but J squashed him with some noodling.
The songs off Beyond were some of the best of the night. They played like half the album, which doesn’t bother me a bit as it’s a great album. I’m not a setlist kind of guy. They played well, sounded good other than J’s vocals sometimes, and I had a great night. I don’t really have a lot to say about Dino’s performance as we’ve all seen the videos and stuff. It was exactly like that!
I just wish they’d played mountain man!

Je ne comprends pas cet anglais de fuckin ! ! Mais je creuse vraiment cet emplacement ! !
haha!
I was at the Winnipeg show last. First time I saw them live. Really enjoyed it. I think the setlist was fairly similar to the others I’ve read on the forum. They ended with mountain man. Great finish!! Some kids were having a blast moshing around in front of the stage. A few guys had big smiles as they jumped off the stage. Highlights for me were the beers, feel the pain, out there, freak scene, and mountain man. I like the new album and was looking forward to back to your heart but could hardly hear lou’s vocals.
Glad I brought ear plugs. They were having sound problems the first 3-5 songs. Then I thought the sound really improved. But I wish the vocals were turned up a notch- especially for lou’s microphone.

May 30, 2007 at 4:01 pm #129454I’m actually from Saskatoon (I live in Seattle now, went to the Seattle show). The Odeon is probably too big on a venue for them to have played. I wonder if the show was moved to a smaller venue at the last minute (this is what happened when Frank Black came to town). Anyway, I’d like to hear some review or even just word that the show even happened.

The turnout wasn’t as good as last time, likely due to Bjork playing the same night, but they were enthusiastic. The highlight was unquestionably a rowdy take on Out There that absolutley lit up The Commodore Ballroom. Great night. You can see about 20 seconds of footage I shot to get an idea of how loud they were: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JITjUm0PiH8 JITjUm0PiH8
If someone has a setlist from Vancouver, please post it. Thanks.

June 10, 2007 at 3:00 pm #129459I saw the edmonton show.
Lou came on everybody was talking started playing and half way through the song. He just jumped out of his seat and screamed as loud as he could into the mic. I thought he was just joking, but he left the stage after a moment. Only to return a couple minutes later and play on the side of the stage not mic’d, I think he plugged in again after. Nobody recognized him or nobody cared. I enjoyed his acoustic set. He played "cold as ice" which won me over.
Awesome color came on they are on the very edge of the stage due to Dino have equipment overkill. Stooges influences rock’n’roll. I enjoyed it alot.
Dino came out and played a great set.
Also i arrived before the show saw murph saw lou didn’t approach either. Just stood in line by myself(because i arrived really early) Early on i had walked up to the door. Because i was going to see what time they were going to open the doors(What it says on the ticket is always fuckin wrong at this particular venue) And right as i walk up the to door, jay walks out and gives a sort of uninterested look and walks away down to his bus. Jay seemed disinterested throughout the entire night.
