J Mascis is playing with Sonic Youth and Sebadoh on April 30th in Northampton, MA at John M. Greene Hall at Smith College. This is a Benefit for Community Resources for People with Autism (http://www.theassn.org/crautismindex.htm), so everyone should come support the cause
This was posted before here and announced through the Sonic Youth site + mailing list.
If you did not catch it before that is J Mascis, Sonic Youth, Sebadoh + more all for a great cause!
from J’s Manager "The benefit is for the Community Resources for People with Autism center, not some lab that does research, although maybe they do research. I’d just like to mention that the money is for this center specifically. ALL money goes to help those with autism. "
I hope that some of those lucky enough to attend will take some pictures or even record this!

February 14, 2004 at 9:23 am #99208Wow, Guys, I just want to let you know this is a subject near and dear to my heart. My son Juan Carlos was diagnosed with Autism when he was 2years,2months old. WE were fortunate enough to live in a university town that along with Duke University has one of the best Autism research centers in the South. He benefited so much from cutting edge research that is going on right now and that this concert will be supporting!!!!!! Juan Carlos was born into the world with 2 very loving parents. However these very loving parents have tried to follow a life full of truth, love, art, happiness all of which left us coming up short on the money end but so much of his therapy was paid for with research money. Everyone if you live close, GO IF YOU CAN. God bless you J. Mascis

P.S. Juan Carlos is doing great now, He is a wonderful little guy who turns 8 on Sunday Feb. 15th , come over to our house on the web cam on sunday evening and celebrate with us. http://www.villaveces.us peace Stefka

February 20, 2004 at 11:56 am #99219im going to go, coming from maryland.
probably staying that weekend in mass.
some ideas:
1. record video
2. record audio
3. (the best idea) and since it’s at a college with Inet access, stream the show live on the INternet.we have two months to get the permissions, the gear and the rest lined up.
lets start now.
February 20, 2004 at 12:10 pm #99220Dude, if you contacted the schools computer whiz department, they might be able to help with EVERYTHING! They could probably have access to the journalism departments film stuff, or you could probably contact them directly… They might also already be doing something… like the 3 song amherst vid… but yeah, if you called up the IT dept., asked around… taxpayer money is a beautiful thing for high tech stuff
, AND if you called, got some help lined up, you could contact the school itself, for any help… good PR for the benefit, good PR for the school… public relations dept., PM me if you need any grunt work, like calling and getting the people’s names and #’s that would, could help, it might be easier for someone who’s going to talk to them first hand, though… Arkansas is a long way… -
