hello i actually interested to examine what pedal j used on "cant we move this" and "alone",anybody have opinion?
June 18, 2007 at 9:27 am #130224Sounds like a Big Muff to me with maybe a Germania, or power booster on it. Run it through an old Plexi Marshall and you should have it.
June 18, 2007 at 9:54 am #130225A Lovetone Meatball is used with a big muff and a bunch of other effects for Alone, J can’t remember which.
Cant we move this is an awesome song, it sounds like muff with a booster, eg germania. Its a pretty rad sound, it sounds like a mix of old and new tones. If you get what I mean. Chorus is the same thing that was used in the wagon, which is probably a fast chorus and some other pedals or a filter matrix electric mistress.
June 19, 2007 at 12:35 am #130226lovetone meatball? i should get it one day,its too much pedal to getting j sound right?hand it over to me are dinosaur jr’s the best ever album .its sound was really grunge to me,alone solo is like a pain.
June 19, 2007 at 9:10 am #130227sure if you have 350 pounds to spend… And plus they’re discontinued so they only make it if someone really wants it.
Its not a pedal for getting J’s sound though, its an envelope filter, he used is on Alone and maybe another song.
June 19, 2007 at 11:08 pm #130228sure ill spend money to get these pedals man!so can you guys let me know what pedals do you guys used to play?
June 20, 2007 at 2:35 am #130229Dude, stop being a noob and then get his stuff.
First of all, the Meatball is an envelope filter and it will not get you even close to J’s sound. Get 2 vintage Muffs and a Superfuzz, a blue box, a custom audio electronics tremolo, a phase 100, ehx electric mistress, a memory man, an ibanez analog delay, a cloyde mccoy wah, a small clone and a clone theory.
Dude, just get a Jazzmaster…
June 20, 2007 at 5:13 am #130230i dont have enough money to get all these pedals but i can get what more important pedals like big muff, wah, and chorus pedal.i dont have enough money too to get jazzmaster but i have a jagmaster copy, its sound good when i play with my muff.
back to main topic,im just wonder what pedal j used on hand it over, thats all.i dont wanna get all j’s pedal, i know it to much expensive especially im Malaysian unless im in America right now.thanks anyway
June 21, 2007 at 12:36 am #130231for alone (the solo), i have see in a guitar magazine it’s jazzmaster of course, TS 808 (yes it’s true!!), Ibanez AD9, and other effects (sure meatball)…
I have read that a little phaser is always on (phase 100 or Doppelganger) like vibrating sound..
Sorry for my language, i’m french.June 21, 2007 at 3:35 am #130232for solo on alone,i have examined with my jagmaster, using my sovtek muff, mxr flanger m117r,boss super chorus ch-1,and i got close to j sound, maybe it need boost it with blue box or lovetone meatball or zvex fuzz factory,i dont know.
hey anybody can tell me what different between small clone , phase shifter , electric mistress? i heard these pedal sounds were close,
June 21, 2007 at 8:25 am #130233gawd.
small clone–EHX made- chorus- watery/lush sound
phase shifter-you can hear it on many EVH solos, i know he’s not a good example compared to J but yeah he uses phasers a lot. Its kind of a wah like fast sound, i cant really describe it.
electric mistress-EHX- flanger- the airplane like effect.
June 22, 2007 at 12:12 am #130234thank you, i think i got chorus and little bit phaser effect with my mxr flanger m117r pedal, i think.so i dont have to waste some money to buying all the pedal, its great having mxr flanger m117r pedal
June 22, 2007 at 1:10 pm #130235I love your enthusiasm. It reminds me of good times in California talking to foreigners who were just always so happy about everything all the time. When you go into a Chinese buffet around here the waiters/waitresses never roll thier eyes when someone comes in. They aren’t ever upset because they have to serve someone else, they are always happy to see the people coming in and happy to work or even have jobs. Maybe they’re just thinking…"more people, more money!" I could see that, but either way…they are always happy. That’s a thing that most Americans have lost. We have become way too lazy and rely on other people too much.
I hope you have fun playing your Jagmaster. I need to get mine back, I miss it. Good luck finding the sounds you want. welcome to Freakscene.net!
Randy Jane.
