oh no, oh no, OH NO !!! newsflash
the show is already sold out …

i bet this has a lot to do with tix held back for freebies (ie industry types + competetions, etc) that’s what happened w/the acdc show last year … lots of pop star types went … bummer
February 7, 2004 at 7:57 am #98433They’re gonna play in norway this summer as well. A festival, so no problem getting tickets. Only problem is that it’s the Quart festival, and that festival sucks so much ass it’s almost unbelivable. It’s kinda a "I go here to be seen and to try to screw some 18 year old chicks. Oh, there’s bands here as well?" kinda festival.

February 7, 2004 at 8:08 pm #98435In other words, you go to musicfestivals to get drunk, screw 18 year old girls, and don’t really care about the bands that are playing there?
February 7, 2004 at 8:13 pm #98436…you forget the ‘to be seen’ part…..

…well, to be honest, beer, 18 year old Norwegian girls, the Pixies: sounds like a near perfect combination…

February 11, 2004 at 7:34 am #98438From Pitchfork – http://www.pitchforkmedia.com
Quote:In other Pixies news, 4AD have announced the tracklist for their latest, 23-track survey of the Pixies catalog, Wave of Mutilation: Best Of The Pixies. The new compilation, which replaces the previous best-of Death To The Pixies, includes a handful of b-sides, alternate versions, and the group’s cover of Neil Young’s "Winterlong" in addition to the usual suspects. Tracklist:01 Bone Machine
02 Nimrod’s Son
03 The Holiday Song
04 Caribou
05 Broken Face
06 Gigantic [single version]
07 Vamos [Surfer Rosa version]
08 Hey
09 Monkey Gone To Heaven
10 Debaser [Doolittle version]
11 Gouge Away
12 Wave Of Mutilation
13 Here Comes Your Man
14 Tame
15 Where Is My Mind?
16 Into The White
17 Velouria
18 Allison
19 Dig For Fire
20 U-Mass
21 Alec Eiffel
22 Planet Of Sound
23 Winterlong [Neil Young]Our previous Pixies stories covered most of the bases regarding 4AD’s self-titled DVD retrospective, Pixies, which will include all the band’s videos, a 1988 live show filmed at London’s Town and Country Club, and the BBC documentary Gouge. The live show will be mixed for 5.1 surround as well as stereo, 4AD reports on their website. An "intimate assembly" of behind-the-scenes footage from the Pixies’ 1989 European tour, On The Road, will round out the more than two-and-a-half-hour disctravaganza.
February 11, 2004 at 10:15 am #98439that dvd sounds like a must buy !
February 27, 2004 at 8:47 am #98440February 27, 2004 at 1:03 pm #98441From that (pretty cool) site:
Quote:Yes, they have decided which tunes they are doing. For the most part, they’ll be doing Pixies’ tunes. As for new songs, there’s a Latvian lullaby, a Czech dirge and a Bulgarian ballad.
February 27, 2004 at 2:24 pm #98442Pitchfork has also discovered the new Pixies site and comments:
Quote:Included is the tidbit that the show in Outer Space sold out in four minutes, which is especially fascinating given the high Yeti-to-human ratio the city is known for. I guess the Pixies can expect to play their first show in ten-plus years to a horde of Chewbacca-like bigfoots swaying to and fro to the tune of "Wave of Mutilation," "Where Is My Mind?," and "U-Mass." I just hope the Sasquatches have the decency to stand in the back. They’re tall, you know….wonder what a certain FS member will think of this…..
February 27, 2004 at 5:24 pm #98443I think the dancing bears will feel left out of that silly rant, the ratio of yeti to dancing bears is a much more important stat

As a Canadian I can only laugh at that sad little story, seems pitchfork forgets music fans come from all over the world/universe. As someone who has tickets to a couple of the first few shows I can only say this to pitchfork…

ps I think Frank Black knows exactly what he’s doing starting this tour in the middle of Canada, it’s working well, Pitchforks response is proof of that
