ok everybody … here’s the deal …
my husband + i are buying our very 1st flat (apartment) and we are currently waiting for a decision from the mortgage man … so we need all the positive thinking + crossed fingers that’s possible from everyone around here …

Good luck, Rambleon! Probably a good decision in these times of gentrification and rental theft to own your own apartment and become your own landlord, if you can afford it.
Hey, Rambleon, after getting your message the other day about the Atlanta, Smith’s show recording, you mentioned your situation, and we have been praying for you (Sheila) and your husband (who we don’t know, but live in London, is how my youngest daughter says it) I just know that it will work out for you.
Please send prayers our way as well, my husband is wanting to take a teaching job that will have him home (not working) during the summer. Although I have a baby that is only six months old, I have been offered an interesting job, that pays well, so we have alot of decisions to make.
One really is blessed by praying for others, I have seen thiswork in my life.
So everyone, if you are into this kind of thing, please do say a prayer for Sheila and her husband!!!! You may find yourself blessed as well.
and never hesitate to ask for prayers, we would love to talk to Great Spirit for you anytime.

however … b/c we live in central london, we can’t really afford it
… so that’s why we’re actually partly renting and partly buying in a scheme over here which is called ‘shared ownership’ … it is designed to help first-time buyers to get onto the housing ladder … otherwise, like i said, no one would give us a mortgage for the astronomical housing prices in london now … 
i guess we figure, even if we never own the whole of the mortgage outright, at least this will set us up with very low rental payments into our old age …

Hmm, shared ownership… That’s an interesting concept…
I wanted to create a housing co-op for musicians and artists, but now, I think it’s too late and I’m kicking myself for it because I know one of my friends wouldn’t be in the situation she is now.

yeah, they’re doing that here too … almost all of the new apartment complexes that are being built/renovated are ‘luxury flats’ … ugh …
which wouldn’t be so bad if the housing market prices hadn’t jumped so much within the last 10 years …
basically, the average london flat is now £280,000 … and in this area you won’t get a one bedroom for much less than 180,000 … and if you do it’ll probably be a bit of a dump … and if you consider, the average london wage is about 24,000 it doesn’t take a degree in economics to figure out you’d either need a VERY large deposit, or well, forget it really …
so like you’re saying … all the people who earn regular/modest wages are completely priced out of the market and usually end up moving to unsafe areas of london … or even worse to the suburbs
… thus changing the character of the area forever …

Where I used to live, we would be able to apartment hop from one to another–move every year, if we wanted to, because there were many apartments available… Not anymore–the last apartment in Montreal I had was a rent-theft dump where it rained more inside than out.
Plus, let’s not forget the cockroaches…all good luck with this!
