wow, I love words so much, too much….I have never spent very much time with the word much until this post.

Did explain to daughter two days ago that English is Gemanic based and Spanish is Romantic, and the word much is a clear example of that, much is really not a beautiful word, I mean to say, it falls along the along the line of other interesting germanic based english words like mulch, fuck, crutch. Love the fact that Romantic is not saying that Spanish is a beautiful language that was designed for speaking of love (as she thought) but only desending from latin or Rome. alas.. mucho, mucho, mucho is not any more sweat to the ear, well maybe a little. :)

J: Can I cut, perm and streak your hair?

Only a Leo would think of that question, hair does have a "quality" after the cut, perm and streak I say one long braid down the back to keep it out of the food.

Murph: Did you really do that chick?

Okay Fata, that is an illegal question, polygraph that I had a subject to could ask "Have you ever had sex with an animal?" My comeback "ummm you mean other than my husband? (another Leo, and I know you know what I am talking about) "Have you ever paid for sex? After laughing, I (truthfully) said No. BUT you can not ask about sex with a particular person, that is against the rules. If you want my opinion, I think the answer is yes, to the Murph question, but lord, I bet he is now reconsidering a second go. Okay, my question comes from my 9 year old son, and it is good, I think.

J, Why did you put your thumb into that hole in the first place?
Was it just curiosity? (from Juan Carlos ll)

What day is your birthday on again, fata, I forget, has it passed?

Hey Stefka, I just want to cut J’s hair, streak it a little and maybe give it a VO5 hot oil treatment… Plus I think the ghosts of my grandmother and grandfather are coming to haunt me–my grandmother owned a beauty salon and my grandfather owned a barber shop
But, you’re right, me a Leo… Hope J. plays waistin’ for me 8)

I know I shouldn’t, ask presumtuous questions like that about Murph, but I don’t know his career that well  and the woman’s log-in name is ididthedrummer–I find that a bit forward already don’t you?

…are you closer to getting that job (even though it sounds a bit demanding?) :D

  holy shit, people…did i ever say "which" drummer?…no….so, don’t assume so much…i like murph, met murph, that is all….not such a big deal…move on for the love of God….

btw, I have been doing a drummer this summer myself, I am way groovin’ on the disk, Big Swing Face, so you see, it’s Buddy Rich for me
check out this sample (okay, I hope it works) http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/clipserve/B000005H3M001001/1/103-0793497-2280655″>http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/clips … 97-2280655
"Swing" down to the bottom of the page to hear samples if you are not familiar with this stuff.

Okay, making like a true gemini and moving on to the next subject, I have thought of a question for J.

Because you use a lot of electronic devices that sort of stick into each other
and you are moving this stuff daily from place to place, don’t you ever experience ground loop problems? If so do you try to get rid of the problem or just keep it as background sound? I keep editing because I have a 22 lb tick stuck to my breast all day and I am having to type around is head and playful feet. I am sure any musician can answer this question, please feel free to answer if you can, I mean, seems like it could be a problem (ground loop humm) but really perhaps it isn’t.

we had the other topic from 2003 about journalists and interviews, it has been sticky for a long time, but many of the questions are outdated now,
so I made this topic sticky instead :)

here are the still up to date questions from the other topic, they’re all questions for J:

                – You’ve recently talked about how much you enjoy playing drums, I’m wondering who you consider the top five drummers in your world, someone who influenced you or just thrilled the hell out of you?

                – You said in other interviews that you worship the Indian Saint Amma. Did you have the chance to see her on her current world tour?
And what’s the deal with the record which is being sold on the current tour?

                – Why do Purple Marshalls sound so much better?

                – You’ve done many interviews during the past few months …there must be some questions you can’t stand anymore !?

i would ask how j feels he’s evolved as a musician over the years, what he’s learned about music or life that he wishes he knew when he was young, and also what advice he would give to anyone starting out as a guitarist. what sort of equipment, etc. also how he feels about technique vs. effects because so many younger guitarists seem very dependent on effects to me…it would seem you have to have both but I’d love to hear j’s take on it.

my solution: knock off the cynical post-ironic questions, knock off the yes-or-no questions, and ask the man something that demands an answer. gear (purple Marshalls  ) and spirituality are two great starting points. even the shyest of guitar nerds will happily talk about those two things.

and oh yeah, shut up and listen for the answers.

btw, personally I would prefer to see the really private issues of the band members kept outside this fan-forum (like who’s doing who, or who’s said to be on parole etc  )

J, why do purple Marshalls SMOKE so much better… ? (referring to the 13 July Philly show w/The amp smoking…)

                    er. whatever. :?

That is Flying Cloud probably because you are discreet. I PM’d a certain lady upon her introduction and told her it is best to keep sexual dalliances discreet. I told her it was for her own protection. Protection against what? Against "people talking" as Lucinda Williams would say. While keeping private issues out of a fan forum is a good suggestion; Sadly enough, the "dinner" party in Athens, Georgia would surely become a dull affair if one could not speak of "Who is doing who? "Who is suing Who? (popular one) and Who is on parole? :D

Ladies, if I were to ask any REAL questions–I’m sure they would pale in comparison to the ones I’ve asked here. These ones are pretty much the tip of the iceberg–an introduction without detail. The real ones I will never be able to ask, because I’m sure I will be ignored and get no answer–waiting for as long as I have been–on this board now. Â :'( Anyway, I say things also, cuz I’m jealous, in case no one has noticed…

I would only like to know what kind of questions J. and the band would like to be asked–it was sad that he didn’t specify what he meant when he said that on woxy.

Also, thanx arleach, for the kitty pictures: they look purrrr, like they’ve just passed the cat nip bong  8)

That’s what I was going to try to talk to J about if I met him at one of the shows. I figured it’s something I enjoy, he seems to and it’s not talking to him about his career. I didn’t get to meet him though :(

Stan, did he say weirdos or hippsters? I think he said it had become to hip. Sort of like the "No one goes there anymore, because it’s just to crowded"
