Okay.. So I was told that the "Uma" that J refers to in "Quicksand" is Uma Thurman? Who knows anything about this?
P.S. My babydog is named Uma just because of this lyric
February 10, 2006 at 12:25 pm #114790In what part of the song does he say "uma"? I don’t remember that lyric but I’ve probably been thinking he says something else. J’s a hard man to understand sometimes!
February 10, 2006 at 12:35 pm #114791"I’m a twisted name on Uma’s Eyes – I’m living proof of Cindy’s lies – It’s history"
February 10, 2006 at 12:36 pm #114792He also mentions ‘Cindy`s lies’.Cindy Crawford?
Uma went to J`s high school I believe. There`s some myths about them dating but it`s just rumours.
Uma bought a house in my province for some reason
February 10, 2006 at 12:46 pm #114793My husband, who knows waaay more about this than me, has always said the same thing about J and Uma in high school. It is all just mysterious though.. Was there something more to it?
February 10, 2006 at 6:37 pm #114794I remember that. Where did I read that before?
February 13, 2006 at 6:21 pm #114795That was great. I especially liked the part about Sonic Youth’s "Teenage Riot" being written about J..
Honestly, as far as the whole Uma issue goes, I would hate to think of J pining over a skinny model-type anyways..

Hi,
I’m very sorry to have to tell you that this is a cover of David Bowie’s "Quicksand", released 1971 on the album "Hunky Dory". So this is for shure not about Uma Thurman and also not written by J.
I know that there is no note about it in the "Whatever’s Cool With Me"-E.P., but here’s a link to proof it:(track 6)
Regards
FelixFebruary 16, 2006 at 11:44 am #114801As far as I remember, not having Bowies’ tune available for listening right now, I’m pretty sure that Bowie sings "Churchills’ lies". Or some other historic politician… J has changed some of the lyrics.

I like the lyric "You can tell me all about it at the next Ball(B.A.L.L.?) show.Is he talking about B.A.L.L. which was Gumball before they changed their name or Baseball?

FelixThanks Felix, but you are telling me nothing new. I already knew that this was a David Bowie song. However, I don’t believe the "Uma" and "Cindy" references are in the Bowie song, right? Maybe I am wrong about that part.. No time to check at the moment..
