hey dinomymind, an impressing list

rd is about to build a nice website with a Dino/ J discography and he wants it to be as complete as possible, so your data it might be a great help for him to compare them with those he already has

Thanks to Jeremiah (and anthony, of course!) it’s very easy now to become a member at FreeSoFree.net: You just register at the message board there, and after that you can use the same username/ password to enter the huge mp3 part of the site
March 13, 2003 at 1:23 am #91913Thanks for all the help especially dinomymind. Once I get all the officially released stuff up and revised then I would like to ad a promo section. I’m still contemplating whether to ad a bootleg section or not. What do ya’ll think?
March 13, 2003 at 2:35 pm #91914hey karius … i have that "what the fuck?" 7" too … it’s pretty cool and has a nice cover w/the big dinosaur on the front and the contrasty green/black image of murph, j and lou on the back … they look so young !! … j has some scary mangled hair too and at that time it wasn’t long all over … just touching his collar in fact !
i have 2 other 7"s that i haven’t seen mentioned here (but maybe i missed them?)
one called radio rucus w/some weird jesus type guy and a monster on the front and on the back is an early pic of j, murph and lou (the one w/j wearing the deep wound sweater which is also listed in the "our band could be your life" book as an early sst promo photo)
the songs are chunks and freak scene and the label is all white w/no writing whatsoever
there’s an address on the back between the song titles
rabies resolutions
883 market st
suite 512
san fran, ca 94103and the 2nd one is an orange an black cover and i can only guess it’s called quest … on the front cover it says from amherst, ma : dinosaur jr … fort apache studios 24/1/89 usa … quest ! … art by craig ibarra ’89
and there’s a cartoon like drawing of j and lou and i guess murph (although no offence to craig ibarra, it doesn’t look a whole lot like murph)
on the back it lists the 3 tracks : quest (5:10) keep the glove (2:19) in a jar (3:32)
and it also says all songs by j.mascis
lo-fi records
+ again it’s al all white label w/no writing or anything
hope that helps you w/your discography rd … good luck … and if i find anything else lurking in my house i’ll let you know
oh yeah … and i think you should definitely list bootlegs too … maybe that could be a long-term project ??

dinomymind thats an impressive listMarch 27, 2003 at 7:33 pm #91916Hey dinomymind, I finally have a few seconds to work on my page and I was wonder if you (or anyone else) knows if You Living All Over Me was released under the band name Dinosaur for both the vinyl and the cd version initially or was just the vinyl version released under the band name Dinosaur and cd versions were not released when the vinyl initially came out but just happen to come out later on after the band’s name change? The reason I ask is because I’ve seen pictures of the vinyl version of You Living All Over Me that say Dinosaur on it with no Jr. but I’ve never seen a picture of the cd version that has just Dinosaur on it.
Also was the bonus 7" that was issued with the vinyl Normal version of Bug the Throw Down 7"? Also what country did the Normal version come from? What does the cover look like? Is it a simple white 7" dust jacket or does it have some design on it?
Thanks
March 28, 2003 at 9:16 am #91917rd: have you tried contacting sst? I’m sure someone there can provide you with correct information about you’re living all over me. Just like you I have only seen the "dinosaur" named version of YLAOM on vinyl and not on cd. It would be nice to have this confirmed by someone who knows it 100%.
March 28, 2003 at 9:58 am #91918I haven’t yet. When I get the chance I’m gonna try to contact as many record labels as possible. I agree that it would be nice to have the information 100% accurate. That’s really what I’m shooting for.
March 28, 2003 at 12:49 pm #91919I do not think that the YLAOM cd version ever came out with anything but the "Dinosaur jr" name. I think that the cd version came out sometime after the vinyl release had been changed. As for the Normal Records release of Bug, this was pressed in Germany. The 7" of "Throw Down" is the bonus 7". It came in a plain white sleeve. It is just a one sided single with the b-side being blank. If anyone has any info on all the releases by SST please let me know. I have tried to find out more about the many versions of each release (especially the singles). I do have a question about the "Just like Heaven" single that has the catalog # 244-x. I bought this from a college radio station that went belly up. It is a 12" single that came in a airbrushed cardboard sleeve. Even the label on the vinyl was airbrushed. This is also a one sided single. I would like to know how many of these were produced and who they were meant for.
