Hey Dimpfelmoser,

58 films in 11 days….not bad at all, sounds like a great experience. Soundtrack with a couple of Stooges songs, definitely up for that…hopefully the cheques are in the mail for the Stooges. Lily Taylor is very cool, not much of a courtney fan though. American Nightmare sounds interesting, Cronenberg kinda creeps me out though but I will keep my eyes peeled for that one. I love horror films, not the slasher type but the old monster movies like the original Dracula with Bela Lugosi, Creature from the Black Lagoon, The Invisible man….hollow man sucked so badly why do they bother when the originals are so cool. Ed Wood’s Plan 9 from Outerspace and Bride of the Monster are hilariously cool as well, picked up a 3 pack of Ed Wood classics…came in a fluffy pink pack, not angora though. A friend gave me a copy of an Ed Wood book, it was 2 books in one Death of a Transvestite on one side and flip it over and there is Devil Girls. Definitely trashy but hilarious at the same time.

Recommend the video Ed & His Dead Mom, stars Steve Buscemi….he is one of my fav’s.

I can’t believe I didn’t recommend this before but check our Repulsion, directed by Roman Polanski starring Catherine Deneuve.
Pretty wild show, have not seen many like this one…although The Tenant by Polanski as well comes pretty close.

BOOKS: any jack kerouac. hes easy to read and very detailed. which books you ask: ON THE ROAD, THE TOWN AND THE CITY, DHARMA BUMS etc.

MOVIES: THE SHINING, A CLOCKWORK ORANGE, RESERVOIR DOGS, FOUR ROOMS, BATMAN, AMERICAN BEAUTY etc..

BANDS: BLONDE REDHEAD, MODEST MOUSE, DINOSAUR JR, NIRVANA, SONIC YOUTH, PIXIES, J MASCIS etc..

Hey defduck,

Good suggestions, if you like Kerouac you would definitely like William S Burroughs. Recommend his short story book Exterminator, I love short stories…works well with my short attention span. You can also pick up some of his spoken word stuff on napster, he also put out a disc with Kurt Cobain…the "Priest" they called him.

Got some great flick picks as well, Four Rooms..is that the one with Tim Roth, he is great. The Misbehavers (? spelling sorry about that) is one of my fav’s from that show.

Modest Mouse are pretty cool, listening to Night on the Sun right now…drives my husband nuts though which I just don’t get but oh well.

I recommend WS Burroughs’ NAKED LUNCH (there’s a movie also), JUNKIE and ACCIDENTAL GHOST (or whatever it’s called in english).
I also liked Anthony Burgess’ CLOCKWORTH ORANGE. The book contains a whole chapter that was eliminated from the film by Kubrick.

Have you ever seen BAD TASTE??? Exquisite gore film by Peter Jackson. It’s even better than DEAD ALIVE.

I have rarely seen a movie live up to the book…actually probably not one. Didn’t really like Naked Lunch the movie, creeped me out too much although the book did that in certain parts as well. Caught this great animated Burroughs short called A Junkies Christmas a couple of years ago…very cool, if you can find it check it out.

You should see SOSTIENE PEREIRA, an italian film based in a novel by Antonio Tabucci. The book is great, but I think the film is not as good as the novel.
Yet the film followed the trama with fidelity. I think it was the last movie Mastronniani appeared in before his death.

Hey,

Wondering if anyone has any tips on how to replace napster in my life…apparently may bite the dust today….fingers crossed that the reports of imminent death are wrong. I actually ended up buying more music thru using that service…hard to believe but true. Looking for something as simple to use as napster….such a cool service…hate the RIAA…swine!!! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Checked out Unbreakable yesterday, glad I waited until it went to the 2 buck theatre…wait for the video. But the best part for me was seeing Samuel L Jackson in that amazing purple suit…gotta get me one of those. Check out that suit…very very cool. Oh yeah the movie was ok as well…just ok though.

Try http://www.winmx.com which uses some opennap servers that ‘should’ not get cut off by the govt. It has 10x the search response time and uses less ram. You will have to tinker with it a bit to get used to it but I have been impressed. Just got the Classic Monster Collection 8 pk of DVD’s…Universal Studios…so cool you gotta check it out if you can. Includes Dracula, Frankenstein, The Wolf Man, Creature From The Black Lagoon, Phantom of The Opera, Bride of Frankenstein, The Mummy,
and The Invisible Man. All with pretty amazing documentaries included in the bonus material.

On a hot sunny afternoon at Universal Studios in California way back in time a guy in a Frankenstein suit kept coming up to me and patting his stomach. I thought hmm this is odd and kept trying to go around him, he kept blocking my way and continued to pat his stomach. Having had a couple of cold beers in the hot sun I quickly deduced he was asking me to test the strength of his abs…wound up and gave him a twister punch Crusher style. My husband was on the ground laughing his brains out….Frankenstein left me alone after that one. Hey whats a dumb a** Canadian girl to think….obviously not much at that point but hey it was fun.

The Silver Jews are always a good pick. If you haven’t checked out the new Stephen Malkmus album it’s about time to do it now. Since you like Hellacopters I recommend The Flaming Sideburns. They did a great split with Hellacopters -White Trash Soul, you should definetely try to get that!
The Rentals, Pavement, Archers of Loaf and The Hives are also bands that can give you lots of great moments.
