This was posted on Obner.org this morning. The girl who posted it writes for a few music pubs so it might be a new press release. If it’s been posted previously, I apologize.
Dinosaur Jr. Reissues on Merge!!
On March 22nd, 2005 Merge records will reissue the legendary Dinosaur Jr. CDs – Dinosaur,
You’re Living All Over Me, and Bug.(Chapel Hill, NC) It’s hard to believe, but it was 20 years ago when Dinosaur first roamed the back roads and byways of central Massachusetts. J Mascis, Lou Barlow and Murph formed their band in 1984 in the sleepy college town of Amherst, MA, and went on to change the face of rock forever…whether they actually ever intended to or not.
Long before the folks in Seattle were raiding thrift stores for flannel, Dinosaur Jr. laid the groundwork for a seismic shift in the underground rock scene. These first three albums, with their sonic wall of melodic bass, furious drums and stunning guitar wizardry, coupled with an almost laissez faire vocal delivery, became the sonic blueprint for what would become known as “alternative rockâ€

Your right about it being a new press release…Merge Records

I definitely agree with you, those booklets sound very pleasing
January 23, 2005 at 7:39 am #106451just a little tidbit of european reissues news …
after last night’s show, flying cloud + my husband + i were hanging out in the bar area waiting for j to come out so we could say hi or whatever + we started talking to this guy who was really nice, but completely pissed
…anyhow … it turns out that his name is craig + he works for sweet nothing records over here in the UK + he said that the reason J was over here was to do some work on the reissues (which are being released over here by sweet nothing) … he also said that the UK release date was 21 march …
anyhow, like i said the poor guy was sooo drunk that we couldn’t really get an in-depth conversation going … but that’s what he said … anyhow … more about this story in my review when i write it up !

oh yeah … i tried to look up sweet nothing records, but their website doesn’t seem to work !
January 23, 2005 at 7:57 am #106452ok … 1st of all i just realized that i posted this under the "track listings" topic, so if that’s wrong + someone wants to move it, then please be my guest !

and secondly, i found this tiny bit of info about sweetnothing : http://www.grunnenrocks.nl/index.html?label/s/sweetnothing.htm”>http://www.grunnenrocks.nl/index.html?l … othing.htm
it says they’re the "inhouse label for Cargo Records, UK" … so there

I know it`s under a minute long but it`s essential in my book.I totally agree. I have a funny story about that song. Three years ago J was in Baltimore doing the acoustic tour and he was asking for requests and one guy asked for "Throw it Down". J said, "I don’t know that one", it was so funny. The guy said, "Yes you do" and he started to sing it and J immediatly went "Oh Oh, Yeah". It took him a little bit to remember the cords, but he got it.
February 2, 2005 at 8:43 am #106454ha! the same sort of thing happened when i went to see terry callier a few years ago at the jazz cafe in london … he was asking for requests from the audience + some guy suggested some really old song + he was like, "what?!, that’s so old … i don’t know the words anymore!!"
…i guess it’s natural for the fans to request older stuff that the musician don’t play all that often, but it’s not like the musicians sit around listening to their old stuff like we do !
March 3, 2005 at 6:22 pm #106455Looks like there may be a deal for preordering the reissues thru Merge on March 11th…8 days from today…

Got this response from the moderator of the Dinosaur Jr Forum @ Merge…
I’ll go ahead and reveal that there will be a pre-order deal of some sort with the three reissues…
They wil go on sale for preorder on the afternoon of Friday, March 11th (one week from tomorrow!)
March 4, 2005 at 7:43 am #106456Excellent. I was one of the ‘guests’ who asked about that. Good to hear. I just hope it has something to do with Dinosaur Jr. and doesn’t just come with a Merge comp or something. Not that that would be awful but I’m holding out hope for something cooler.
March 4, 2005 at 9:36 am #106457Merge is usually pretty good with pre order deal stuff. It will be something Dinosaur jr for sure maybe just a print but something
March 5, 2005 at 6:43 pm #106458Great price for the reissues, 3 for $33…

March 6, 2005 at 5:55 am #106459wow …
… that is cheap … especially w/the exhange rate right now
…uh, silly question … are these being reissued on cd, vinyl or both ?
March 6, 2005 at 5:56 pm #106460Good question, guess we’ll find out soon

I’m hoping it’s both vinyl & cd
March 7, 2005 at 12:49 pm #106461Thanks for news of the pre-order bundle. I will DEFINITELY buy that Friday, especially since at $33, that’s the price I was thinking I’d pay for just Dinosaur and YLAOM.
March 7, 2005 at 10:38 pm #106462I saw that "Show Me The Way" was missing and the discussion of this… This is on Bestbuy.com:
Quote:This CD reissue includes a contemporaneous b-side, a jokey but surprisingly good cover of Peter Frampton’s "Show Me the Way" that also appears on the FOSSILS compilation.Click here for the page http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7036664&type=product&id=1417026
What are we to believe? (Jeremiah I’m sure)
Someone tell me if I am retarded and read it wrong…
