i take multiple cd’s to work each night, one slot is always reservered for a cd featuring J. I never am able to type or vote on those threads about album greatness and ranking; songs, i try, but albums i could never rank or even consider better worse, the only test or practice i have to study is the frequency of spins at SUnoco. I’ve been able to blast music freely at work, being i’m all by my lonesome most of the time, since January.

i just tried to put the albums, J and Dinosaur Jr., in order of most trips to work, i started with fewest, MArtin and Me, Dinosaur was probably second, then it got so hard i quit. Lately it’s been Without a Sound, Hand it Over and More Light, that being the ones i litsten to the most.

the comdy is that i probably listen to them the most becasue they remind me of my life dduring the years they were released and the places i bought them at, and the people i listened to them with for the ifirst time or anytime. The comedy i promised is that during those years i probably listened to the older releases more, not to say i don’t listen to them as much now, but when the newer albums were released it was the other way around or something like that, a good example is Free so Free. I love the album, but i’m just starting to listen to it more and truely appreciate it as can be.

bottom line, promise, is that i love all albums J has put out. i can’t wait for more, soon good, smiles

yeah, I have it the same way. And that’s some of the power of music, it’s ability to transport you back through memories while listening to it.
The shame is that it can ruin perfectly good records, for me at least, Eels’ Beautifull Freak is a fantastic album, but I haven’t been able to listen to it for years because of stuff and people that happened when it was released.
YLAOM, Where You Been and Hand It Over cary the strongest memories for me when it comes to Dino/J, to some extent also More Light. Free So Free I just try to forget

Free So Free rocks for lack of a better word. It rolled around in the rotation last night. I usually play jazz on sundays but i was so out there after a crazyconfusingchaos filled weekend that i needed to hear J’s guitar and i started the album at Everyone let’s me down and hit repeat so as the album would start over and all would be played, i ended up letting it run through twice completely after the inital three song finale jumpstart. I just love those last three songs so darn much, whole album is soild as a rock can be but Everyone lets me down is a fireball waiting to reach a level unreachable yet there for the entire durration, say the word creeps up on you like a sleeping elephant, taunt it all you want while it rests but wake it and prepare for it’s furry, a sonic guitar solo to tear through your speakers then the album concludes with outside a song which always reminds me of green mind where J first speaks of the outside, where they always hide. i like to think i’m on the outside alot, but it isn’t as fun as it sounds; luckily the album is, as are all albums J plays on, the rotation continues
