Anyone going to make the SATX show tonight?
June 19, 2007 at 2:19 am #130237Ten songs for Dinosaur in San Antonio tonight. Opened for the Black Keys, who were fantastic. Setlist in its proper order, as it’s not difficult to remember ten songs. The final three songs were golden, easily the highlight of the evening…
1 Almost Ready
2 Just Like Heaven
3 Back to Your Heart
4 Been There All the Time
5 Little Fury Things
6 This Is All I Came to Do
7 Feel the Pain
8 Forget the Swan
9 Freak Scene
10 Sludgefeast…and "Feel the Pain" was a lowlight, sorry guys.
June 19, 2007 at 8:29 am #130238I didn’t stay for the Black Keys, but then again, I was there for J, Lou, and Murph. The set is correct as menitoned above. The show was certainly the shortest Dino/J/Fog show that I hvae been to. Just at an hour, plus minus a few minutes. I know that they were an opening act, but come on. This is a historic band. Oh well. The 18 somethings got their Black Keys. What was interesting is that a lot of kids didn’t seem to know the band. I guess I’m just becoming old. Forget the Swan was the highlight for me.
June 19, 2007 at 10:31 am #130239Caught the show at Sunset Station (outdoor pavillion) last night and I’ve just got to say…WOW! I’ve never been a "fan" of the band, but as a fan of good heavy music, I’ve always had a healthy respect for J. and what he does. After listening to some of Beyond and experiencing what they do live, I am now a full-blown Dinosaur jr. fan. As mentioned, Dino opened for The Black Keys (who played a hell of a show too), so they only played a one hour set. Unfortunately, I was late getting to the show (which apparently started on time dammit!) and I only caught the last 20 minutes or so of Dino’s performance. But that’s all it took to hook me. As we approached the venue, I realized from a block and a half away that we were in for a treat. I knew that J. & co. threw out a wall of sound, but I was just freaking amazed by not only the volume, but the great sound that it carried with it. Having listened to a lot of Dinosaur jr. tracks prior to the show, it was easy to appreciate the preciseness with which the band executed the songs live. What a fantastic band & what a spectacular show. Freak Scene was definitely the highlight for me. For whatever reason, we don’t often get the opportunity to see legends from the fringe in San Antonio, but I hope that J., Lou & Murph will come back so I can take in a full show sometime soon. Dinosaur jr. f*cking ROCKS!
