At the beginning of Little Fury Things,was the scream done by Lou or was it Lee Ranaldo?
I say it was Lou
It was Lee Ranaldo. He also does the background vocals throughout the entire song….although Lou does all of the screaming and stuff for their current shows….
I heard that he (Lee) was at a show on one of their recent tours and he did the background vocals for Little Fury Things, live….I could be wrong though.
The screaming is definitely 100% pure Lou; Lee Ranaldo is doing the background SINGING (sort of "behind" J’s singing); nobody can scream like this but Lou… on current live shows, Lou also sings backup (which makes J and Lou sing in sync, practically
)I’m sure it’s Lou.
Lee actually sings the first verse. I don’t think we hear until the bridge, then j and lee do the last verse together. as memory serves
One thing I could never figure out is what Lou is screaming, does anyone know? If I was to guess I’d say he was calling out to his little Indian friend "Hiawatha", but I’m sure I’m wrong on that. So if someone could post the correct lyric that would be great.

It’s "What is it? Who is it? Where is it?"
Not sure who did it on the original recording, but I can tell you this… nobody has done it live as perfectly as Dave Schools! Check out the Fog show from Cambridge MA on 11/20/04.

The screaming is definitley Lou Barlow. The first verse/chorus is sung by J and Lee Ranaldo. End of discussion!
