Truly great thing from III is a wonderful song!
May 20, 2006 at 3:53 am #115438I used to be MASSIVELY into Sebadoh which is how I got into Dinosaur Jr. in the first place.
Bubble and Scrape was my favourite for the reasons put forward by kracked873, couldn’t have put it better meself! Harmacy was another winner despite the lack of "The Gaffer"
Have to say Lou TOTALLY carried that one (no disrespect to Mr. Loewenstein, I like his voice a lot but his songs weren’t great on that album)
Then I just sort of stopped listening to ’em so I sold ’em all!
June 30, 2006 at 12:11 am #115439Sebadoh’s a pretty great band. I like all of their albums. ALthough Lou’s songs are less consistant than J’s work after Lou left Dinosaur Jr. Still pretty good though. I alaways get kinda offended when people say that Lou is still a depressed whiner who never grew up. It gets my blood boiling.
July 6, 2006 at 12:49 pm #115440I’m a really big Barlow fan be it Sebadoh, Sentridoh, Folk Implosion, and whatever he’s done. Some of the stuff is just so amazing. I really really love III it’s an amazingly excellent record. I was so happy when I found a used copy of it (was out of print untill this new re-issue) as I have only seen 2 used copies in about 4 years of looking in stores. Bubble and Scrape is really good as well. I don’t like Bakesale as much as the others, but it’s still pretty good. Great band though, and Lou is just an amazing songwriter.
July 10, 2006 at 5:26 pm #115441So did anyone pick up the Sebadoh III reissue? I believe it was released in Europe today.

SKULL SKULL SKULL
May 4, 2007 at 1:41 pm #115443Love Sebadoh and Barlow’s other projects
Harmacy and Bakesale are my fav Seb albums whilst Emoh is one of my favourite acoustic albums I own. Some of Sebadoh’s stuff I find a bit scattered and not too easy to get into, but Seb really made some gems. Willing To Wait springs to mind as does…well…maybe I’m a bit of a populist when it comes to songs, music videos tends to help me get into em lol, but Skull, License To Confuse, Ocean, On Fire, Flame…EDIT: Tried looking for the reissues in HMV today jaylst but to no avail
So hard to find good music in record stores nowadaysMay 4, 2007 at 2:26 pm #115444seBADoh were(are) a good band. smash yer head on the punk rock was the first i heard from them and fell in love with their style immidiately. once gaffney was gone it wasn’t the same…although it gave jake a chance to shine, but lou’s stuff just went downhill towards the end. the reunion shows were great though.
May 4, 2007 at 3:49 pm #115445Never got into Sebadoh, and I only really like "Lose" live (it kills), but after hearing Lou’s two songs on Beyond I think he should release an album next year with J & Murph as his backing band.
May 4, 2007 at 4:13 pm #115446I like Sebadoh, mainly Lou’s stuff. Songs like Lose and Lightning Bulb are so great because it seems like J just lets loose(and they are great songs by Lou). I cant wait to hear Lightning Bulb live.

I do like Sebadoh however and really enjoy the albums Bakesale and Harmacy. But I know what you’re saying, that album would be DOPE with J and Murph backing Lou up.
A little Dinosaur Loober
May 5, 2007 at 3:27 pm #115448I love Sebadoh, maybe even a little more than Dinosaur. The albums with Gaffney are all amazing, and unpredicatable. After he left, I think things weren’t as interesting, but they still made some great albums. Needless to say, I’m wicked pumped for the Freed Man reissue.
May 9, 2007 at 11:53 am #115449I love Sebadoh. Bakesale and Harmacy are my favorites. I even liked Folk Implosion’s ‘One Part Lullaby’ although it is very different from stuff he’s done before. Lou is an amazing song writer and musician (and he’s pretty darn handsome
). I think it’s awesome how much his music evolves and how each CD has a different sound and feel.Lou used to have a forum on his website but it’s been down for quite some time. If you aren’t aware of his site you should check it out- it’s pretty neat! Lou keeps up his blog pretty regularly and he’s got alot of other neat stuff on it too. God, I love these guys!
May 9, 2007 at 12:49 pm #115450Heard 3 albums, Bubble & Scrape, The Sebadoh and Bake Sale. I love Bake Sale. They can get a bit annoying if i’m not in the mood
May 9, 2007 at 4:20 pm #115451I’ve liked Sebadoh since III, but had it on cassette so some songs got lost, but after replacing it with the reissue CD, I LOVE it. I like various songs from other Sebadoh CDs, but think that as entire albums, they are too uneven (III doesn’t have that problem, though).
Back in April 1993 Sebadoh played a show at a nearby college (Swarthmore College) and the band started out amazing, but less than 2 songs in a security guard came and cancelled the show because the students organizing it didn’t get the appropriate permits. Bummer, because Sebadoh live were shaping up to be something far more intense and interesting than some of the albums.
Anyway, III is the way to go when it comes to Sebadoh.
