Flat Duo Jets-s/t(1990),Go Go Harlem Baby(1991),and Introducing(1995)
Chapel Hill,NC`s Flat Duo Jets showed the world all you need to rock is a guitar and some drums. They did work with a bassist breifly but they did`nt need him.
Dexter Romweber(guitar/vocals) and Crow(drums) started in the mid `80s.Their mix of rockabilly, blues, and surf all played with punk energy(not to mention Dexter`s wild vocals) made them a great live act and some fine records they`ve done too.
Despite tours with The Cramps and praise from the White Stripes,REM,and Beck;the FDJ did`nt catch on like they should.Dexter pursued a solo career.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vSvyU7flL2E vSvyU7flL2E

Two Cents Plus Tax followed in 1998,one of their greatest records,a big production budget gave them a big sound.Sadly Caroline dropped them and they signed with Merge. The 1999 ep Afterglow followed and in 2000 their last record Hurrah came out.Allmusic gave Hurrah 2 stars which is unfair since there`s hardly a bad song though less production cash went into it.They reunited soon again to open for Mission Of Burma.Things got quiet after that but they`ve since done some shows including a Xmas show with Yo La Tengo.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ywazLwhrw3k ywazLwhrw3k
I already talked about them in the Have You Heard thread but I did`nt post their myspace page link with 10 songs.Check out the tunes Blade of Grass,Frog, and Crazy Maker

Highlights:
Seventh Son
My Biggest Mistake
Die For Me
When I Was Young
Hellbound Train
First You Dream Then You Die
What A Way To Die
Love MeYoutube has some tunes by these guys now:

October 25, 2010 at 9:35 am #122730Those Merton Parkas songs are good thanks

The Gun Club-The Fire Of Love(1981) and Miami(1982)
Poison 13 obviously got alot out these guys.Leader Jeffrey Lee Pierce was the president of the Blondie fan club(Debbie Harry guests on Miami)before fronting these blues punkers.Pierce`s drug problem led to the band recording sporadically. He cleaned himself up only to die of a brain hemmorage in 1996(some reports say liver disease).16 Horsepower cited this band as a major influence and Mark Lanegan covered one of their songs.
