Fantastic show last night – J was in great form & George was excellent but the star of the show…..Watt !! He was sporting a great ‘grizzly adams’ beard that was was dripping after the first song. He has so much energy it’s unreal.

Ron was great as well – there was a real mixture of dino / stooges numbers. All in all a great gig – not as loud as the Astoria in December, but all the better for it.

There was some violence to report, but not from the crowd – it was started by one of the performers on the stage. The second guest performer (excuse my ignorance – hopefully someone caught his name), had the hump because Watt’s mic was to high for him and he couldn’t adjust it. He then objected to a cigarette being thrown on the stage (not even at him). He launched the mic stand into the crowd hiting people at the front (nowhere near the smoker), and then spat twice into the audience. This caused a surge to the front, when he launched the mic stand again, followed by the mic itself (both of which broke). He then stormed off stage, leaving the ever proffessional Watt to finish the vocals.

General crowd going mad, J looking bemused but not bothered or flustered.

All in all the best Gig I’ve been too…..Maybe until Brighton tonight !

yes, it was amazing. did anyone get a setlist? it’s all a bit hazy what songs did he play in the medley in the beginning? i only managed to recognise one of them, which was "range life" by pavement.

Ah…It was Bobbie Gillespie from Primal scream.

I guess he’s only ever played at concerts where everyone sits in chairs clapping rhythmically.

Hey,

Hmmmm, more than a little bit of momentary madness with the mic stand bit…never understand that kind of childish aggression…

Thanks for the posts, always cool to at least get an idea of how things went…god I wish i was there!!!!!

Yeah – I feel priveliged to have able to see them play. One advantage in England being a geographically small place. As I said, hopefully the video footage will surface somewhere soon. Gillespie – it was childish aggression, but of the "heavy lump of metal flailling around peoples heads" variety.

guapo – The medley they played is the John Peel Session (download from the MP3 section of this BB I think). Teenage Fanclub, "Everything Flows", "Range Life" and finally Ruts "In A Rut". Awesome studio session, even better in the flesh. One of the highlights of the night.

Please, I need some help with this one………

My Wife has just asked me why am I going to see JM&TF again, having seen them last night. Apparently it’s "raining a bit" and wouldn’t I rather stay at home for a night in. It appears I am not now going alone…..

As her musical tastes only go as far as Boney M and Sister Sledge, I may be in a spot of bother.

HELP !!!!

Mission Accomplished. (Amazing what a visa card and some shops can do !) So, alone I went last night. I’ve started another topic, so we’ll see if any other Freaks went last night….

Too many topics on this gig so I’m not sure where to put this…..

I thought the gig was brilliant – sound was better than at the Astoria (although SBE is a shit venue)

Here’s a stab at the set list:

BUDGE
I’M NOT FINE
SAME DAY
LITTLE FURY THINGS
BACK BEFORE YOU GO
PEEL MEDLEY
AMMARING
WAISTIN
THE WAGON
(3 or 4 STOOGES songs)

(more STOOGES )
FREAKSCENE

Included in the covers were:

LOOSE
NO FUN (with Mr Gillespie)
I WANNA BE YOUR DOG
TV EYE

Can anyone else make more sense of this?
