>>> SLEATER-KINNEY SHOWS!
March
9 – Bellingham, WA @ WWU a/a
10 – Olympia, WA @ Capitol Theater w/ V for Vendetta 8pm $7 a/a

11 – Los Angeles, CA @ All Tomorrow’s Parties* Janet Weiss – her Top Five Most Influential Bands *
Janet of Sleater-Kinney was briefly interviewed on NPR’s Talk of the
Nation
and asked for her Top Five. Her answer was: 1) Sonic Youth,
2) Television,
3) Minutemen, 4) Bikini Kill, and 5) Led Zeppelin.
But what’s even more
interesting is her response to the follow up
question asking her to explain
the influence of Bikini Kill on the
formation of Sleater-Kinney. Here’s
the archive for the show and
Janet’s segment is towards the very end.http://search.npr.org/cf/cmn/cmnpd01fm.cfm?PrgDate=02%2F07%2F2002&PrgID=5

February 24, 2002 at 3:01 pm #71069Cool that SK is back!
Can`t wait for the new album later this year
thanks Tom for the info February 28, 2002 at 3:34 pm #71070Truely one of my absolute favorite bands. Corin Tucker is god. I love their blend of aggressive guitar work and raw emotion. Anyone else seen Songs for Cassevetes? Good flick about indie bands and the whole non-major label existence. There really is something great about tough chicks rocking hard, screaming "DAMN YOU". Anyone know if they ever tour out east? I need to see them live!!!! My friends think I’m overly-fixated…
February 28, 2002 at 4:13 pm #71071HTW-they do tour out east, they just are`nt now;I heard in 2000 they toured with Yo La Tengo and Versus,I would have loved to have seen that!3 of my fav bands all playing together;Dinosaur Jr,Come, and Bettie Serveert did a tour together in the mid 90`s,that would have been wicked to see as well.
Can`t wait for the next SK album, coming out late summer/early fall March 2, 2002 at 2:19 am #71072I am pretty sure that SK has never been to Pittsburgh. Allot of the good bands from the Pac NW skip this town, Modest Mouse didn’t come here on their last tour, and Built to Spill played for the first (non-Lollapalooza) time here last year. Kind of sucks, but oh well.
Best triple bill I ever saw was Beck, Ben Folds Five & Elliot Smith in ’98. Saw Dinosaur Jr open for Neil Young in ’93 which was pretty cool. Actually partied with Murph after a Lemonheads show years later, and he saw really stoked about those shows, I guess they only did 4. I guess that’s a twisted tale for a different thread though…
April 4, 2002 at 5:37 pm #71073April 4, 2002 at 7:14 pm #71074Good man. Hope they show me their riffs in Chi-town this year. Getting the new record no doubt.

April 7, 2002 at 5:55 pm #71076From the KRS news letter:
SLEATER-KINNEY are currently busy in the studio recording a
full-length due out this Fall on KRS. And almost as exciting, they
have announced a couple of East Coast shows!! May 15 they’ll be in DC
with Belle & Sebastian @ DAR Constitution Hall. And check ’em May 17
in Brooklyn @ Warsaw. The new songs totally rock and aren’t just for
west-coasters any more!
Too bad that DC show is during the week. I might make the trip otherwise.June 10, 2002 at 11:40 am #71077Someone put some new songs from the new album up at AG! I heard one song so far,it sounds really good!
June 14, 2002 at 9:09 pm #71078The new release is called "One Beat" and will be released 8/20/02 on Kill Rock Stars.
June 15, 2002 at 12:39 pm #71079Thanks Tom for the release date I`ve heard 3 songs from it,very good stuff,it`s much in the vein of All Hands On The Bad One,they did`nt change that drastically at least not on the songs I`ve heard.
June 21, 2002 at 8:56 pm #71080¡SLEATER-KINNEY!
The SCOOP on the new Sleater-Kinney album!
One Beat will be in stores August 20th, 2002, earlier through KRS
mailorder. There will be a limited edition CD package, which is the
One Beat CD + an attached two song single of songs not on the album.
This is limited to 25,000. The VINYL edition comes with a 7" single
of the two non-album songs and a big awesome poster. This is limited
to 5,000 copies. We’ve come across fan-remixed version of The Swimmer from AHOTBO. It
was created by Gerry from Check This Out (http://ctomag.com/”>http://ctomag.com/), who
calls it :
"The Swimmer – The Grooveblaster Underwater Remix" (mp3 + real audio)
http://ctomag.com/may16cto/songs.html
thanks gerry!

Sorry, no word on when to begin ordering yet. I will post it… after I order mine, of course June 29, 2002 at 9:00 pm #71081scoopeth:
SLEATER-KINNEYWe have been getting a ton of emails about specifics of when "One
Beat" will be available, whether there will be pre-orders, when it’ll
be out internationally, etc. To set the record straight, we are not
doing pre-orders, but we will put the album on sale as soon as they
arrive in mailorder, which should be in early August, and we’ll have
extra helpers in mailorder to try to get orders processed even faster
than usual. We’ll announce it in the weekly update of course, but if
you’ve got to be in the know ASAP, sign up in the shopping cart to
get an email when the album is in stock:
http://www.buyolympia.com/killrockstars/Item=KRS387The band is working on other treats like new shirts, buttons, and
stickers too… as for the album… there will be limited editions of
the CD and LP. The CD will include a bonus CD-Single of two songs
not on the album and the LP will include a bonus 7" with those songs,
as well as a poster in the package. In addition, LP orders through
mailorder will get another poster on top of that, which is different
from the one inside the record… AWESOME! it will be worth the wait
I promise! And for the Europeans, One Beat will be on KRS in Europe and will
have the same release date, and of course you can also buy it early
through mailorder. Also west coast tour dates for September are confirmed!

I got a darling postcard from KRS today with the happy smiling faces of the three ladies and on the back it said the slab was in. The site says no, but will email you when it is. Get on it, or you will miss the 2 bonus cuts on the cd and the 2 cuts + poster for vinyl.
