Is that the guy that wrote Western Swings ?
I liked that book.March 6, 2009 at 11:31 am #82440*pretends to not have just been on google*
Yes, I believe he is. I haven’t read it though. I actually have only read Sorrow Floats and am now currently almost finished with Social Blunders which is even better then the aforementioned book.
March 6, 2009 at 11:49 am #82441I borrowed it by a flat mate at university. I’m a bit blurry on it now though, guess I’ll have to reread it, and see if I can conjour up some of his other novels.
March 11, 2009 at 6:00 pm #82442Too bad I didn’t come across this book several years ago…when I could have used it.

a)have you been a sailor ?
b)did you have an eye patch ?March 11, 2009 at 6:08 pm #82444No…no eye patches….. just an Aries Mother-in-Law….with 5 sons and I married the baby.
March 11, 2009 at 6:11 pm #82445Ah…I guess I was being way too literal

I hope you didn’t have to sink her battleship.March 11, 2009 at 6:23 pm #82446Shoot, next to her I’ll always be floating around on a couple of two by fours laying on top of some old tires….are you kidding, sink her battleship….she could sink my battleship in half a second. Oh, Robert BTW, Scott Spillane and I both took our children to meet Santa Clause at the same time this year and I was asking him if he keeps firearms in his home (I told him about Freakscene and my conversations) and he said….he sold them all to pay the bills.

your description made me extremely happy Stefka !"Annastefka" wrote:Oh, Robert BTW, Scott Spillane and I both took our children to meet Santa Clause at the same time this year and I was asking him if he keeps firearms in his home (I told him about Freakscene and my conversations) and he said….he sold them all to pay the bills.See, I told you so !

I certainly hope he’s ok monetary wise though, selling off stuff to pay bills sounds harsh.
Have you heard the newest Music Tapes album ? It is so beautifull, chaotic and absolutely wonderfully brilliant to a degree that brings tears to my eyes. Every single time. I honestly belive that he is one of the few people who creates something unique and magically fantastic.
Not to mention his singing saw at christmas, I made my family listen to that the whole christmas.
I hope you gave him a great big hug.March 11, 2009 at 7:41 pm #82448Quote:See, I told you so !
I think in this case we were both right. No…I have no idea of what music you are speaking of….please enlighten me. I only get what my teens are listening too….like the ying-yang twins..Get Low .. you know,he’s been done come to the club…like fifty-11 times. I love that line. I don’t think they should teach sex ed in the schools…they should just wait until puberty takes ahold and then put the kids in a room with like the ying-yang twins and then….a light switch will go off in their heads and it will be like "Eureka….I get it"….that’s my new theory. After April, I think I will have been done seen J Mascis about fifty-11 times.
March 11, 2009 at 8:01 pm #82449Oh, Robert…you don’t know what you are missing…just like me, I need to check out the Lou Barlow…sings some Magnetic Fields and the Christmas stuff.you mentioned..what is it called exactly….you have to check out the ying-yang twins….your English seems pretty good….yes, he is singing, "till the sweat drop downs my balls…till all these bitches crawl"….I used to be horrified by lyrics like this…now I’m just thrown into fits of laughter…I mean, what can you do? The uncensored version….I mean, this song has words that even I wouldn’t repeat on Freakscene….but it has a damn good beat and in the end, sometimes…that’s what it’s all about.
Get Low-Ying-Yang twins…uncensored…they only way to go.

The "Saw" is a very popular musical device in Athens right now….the kids seem to think you can go out to the shed and get any ole saw and make it do that. I just tonight, found my youngest daughters hermit crab in her bedroom…and I really believe that it hasn’t been fed for at least two months…I don’t know how the thing has survived….no water….it’s a miracle. It’s possible, he/she has been crawling into the kitchen at night and eating out of the compost bucket….no, the dogs would have eaten it….I really am baffled….I forgot "We" even had a hermit crab….life can get so weird.
March 11, 2009 at 9:06 pm #82451I am absolutely at awe. A pet hermit crab

as for the yin yang twins…oh my !
I feel so terribly sorry for you, time to get the young ones headphones me thinks.
It’s a shame you’re a hippie, if not you could’ve gone gestapo on their hifi
March 11, 2009 at 9:34 pm #82452I’m such a hippie…I’ve gone to eatingabout 75% raw foods and because I don’t shave my underarms, I find myself getting turned on by my own smell in the morning. It’s really strange, I love the smell of "guy" underarm….and now, I have the same smell that I love so much…..It’s sort of exciting. Even though all of this is true, I love coming to Freakscene and writing BS on the computer, while I have cookies baking in the oven, my husband on the cell phone with me (he is on his way home, yeah), Kyoko, our Japanese friend chatting with me on Facebook (she thinks she might be pregnant, uhhhhohhh) and some little hand sewing I’m doing in my lap. Dog sleeping at my feet. God, life is so good right now.
March 13, 2009 at 6:25 pm #82453I can’t even begin to imagine how to think about answering your post Stefka.
