"The shoelace" is just one reason I find Bukowsky so f******brilliant. Because now, I have finally come to understand him. I have "Burning In Water, Drowning In Flame"–excellent.
April 26, 2003 at 2:00 pm #82320I just got around to finishing Dharma Bums (Kerouac). It made me wish I was still walking the earth aimlessly, but alas Mon-fri is a choice we all have to make now and then.
I’m probably heading back into the Quixote. Don that is. I read parts of it every summer. It makes me smile and think, which is good.
I read a Borges story everynight or so to gain knowledge and have a rotating stock of HST where thinking is best accomplished
June 23, 2003 at 12:06 am #82321Picked up From The Velvets To The Voidoids by Clinton Heylin yesterday, think I’ve tried to read this one before, hopefully will have more luck this time…

Talks about the different uses of bodies that are donated for scientific research…

Saw another book but thought it might creep me out to much, talked about all the different non human organisms that live on humans, lots of bizarre pics. Couldn’t pick it up today, just creeped me out to much…

August 9, 2003 at 9:23 am #82324Toni Morrison Paradise and Sula. Toni Morrison is one of my all-time favorite authors. I have read most of her works. Paradise was a long read and sometimes difficult to want to continue, but my curiosity peaked its end and I was able to pull through. I find this novel to have passages that are less passionate–more ornamental or ‘pastoral’ than her previous works–but I don’t think it impeded that much on the storyline. Still a good read.
Sula, I found, had amazingly brilliant insights. The observation of the characters, the storyline itself–the characters were filled with their own distinguishingly quirky originality–which made them all quite interesting. I will never tire of reading Toni Morrison.
August 18, 2003 at 11:06 am #82325Well i read Harry Potter 4 a couple of weeks ago…

September 2, 2003 at 4:21 pm #82327not to get political here.. but..

September 4, 2003 at 10:44 am #82329Well, you may not like it if you are a Republican. However, if you are an independent or Democrat sick of the current American regime, it is great. Especially since I hate Ann Coulter, Bill O’Reilly, and Sean Hannity.
The arguements (so far – I am 1/2 done) have been well researched and logical.
Well worth it.
Carl.
(p.s., and a belated welcome back, LDD)
September 4, 2003 at 12:43 pm #82330Al Franken was great when he co-hosted Crossfire on CNN, the republicans were scared of him. It seems they were surprised he could back up his opinions with facts, not something they were prepared for…

I’m definitely going to check out his new book, his Rush Limbaugh book was hilarious (still can’t believe he’s part of a NFL pregame show this year
) Ann Coulter scares me, what also scares/pisses me off is the consistent anti Canadian rants coming from some of the talking heads on the right…Soviet Canuckistan…
September 4, 2003 at 8:56 pm #82331i liked rush limbagh is a big fat idoit, but ann coulter scares me even more, as she is dead serious. i love watching bill maher yell at her on real time (now with swearing!).
September 5, 2003 at 2:35 pm #82332my next book may be the Ann Coulter book. But I am not putting money into that woman’s pocket..
My parents already have, and we may trade books. I am the lone democrat in the family.

Done and Done..
Now I have nothing to read (for now).. I am interested in getting that new Paul Krugman book.. The Great Unraveling: Losing our way in the New Century, or re-read Generation X (Coupland).. I read it back in 1992…
p.s. That Coupland book is a downer… Much more depressing than All Families are Psychotic. But Coupland is a great writer… (I mean, for a Canadian, and all
)Carl.
