          Hey,

I agree Spaceman 3 were great. Sonic Boom opened for The Flaming Lips when I saw them in 99. Kinda odd though, he stood with his back to the audience but the camera was on his face projected on a huge screen…cool sounds though.

Sonic Boom goes under the name Spectrum,I bought a 97 Spectrum album, very electronic and boring, man it sucked!
Spacemen 3 were great though,I bought "Perfect Perscription" a few years ago, great album, great covers of 13th Floor Elevators"Rollercoaster".which is 17 min long! and Red Krayola`s"Transparent Radiation".
Spiritualized is cool too, they have a new album out soon, kinda VU meets Sun Ra thing happening. It`s Jason from Spacemen 3.Check out Bardo Pond -sound like Sabbath/Sonic Youth/Dinosaur Jr/Spacemen 3/Hendrix hybrid. They`re from Philadelphia and record for Matador records, wicked band, check them out. They played with Sonic Boom at a gig a few years ago.

                Hey Malcom,

Sebadoh played at those shows as well, there was also some dj or rap guy but as usual we were late so missed the opening act. Looks like your from the midwest, the Flaming Lips are playing Chicago in early September http://www.wbr.com/flaminglips/cmp/tournews.htm

They are recording a lot this year, Wayne is also working on a space/alien movie..that should be very very cool.

I don’t go for electronic music at all, Sonic Boom though was fun for thirty minutes. Didn’t inspire me to go buy anything but hey it was fun at the time. There were two shows, the "adult" gig on the Monday had a very tame crowd…ie boring. The all ages gig on the next day was packed and tons of fun, everyone really got into the shows and actually showed some emotion…go figure. Cool thing was Wayne from the Lips was standing right by us for about twenty minutes during Sonic Boom’s bit, he had a goofy grin on his face and was bopping away…too cool!!!

                Allison

ps got the EC reference, love the lemonheads song think its called Allison’s starting to happen…hope that happens soon , just need more caffeine I think

I forgot to mention that Sonic Boom did some collaboration work with Jessamine, the Seattle drone rock band."A pox on you" is one album under Spectrum/Jessamine and "Living Sound" is another just under Jessamine which is live material with Boom.
Allison will find this cool;I once read that there is a recording somewhere of the Spacemen 3 doing a MC5 tribute, they play "Kick Out The Jams","Come Together" and "Rocket Reducer no.62".Keep your eyes open for that Allison!I certainly will.

                    Hey Salamiguy,

Thanks for the tip, will definitely keep my eye out for that one. Lot of MC5 tributes out there, gotta love that.
