Earlier today I heard a jazz song from the early 30’s and it was extremely similar to the Imperial March from star wars. Or at least I thought so.
Does anyone know if the imperial march is based on this jazz song, I think it was called My Woman?

I just checked the AMG listings for songs called My Woman.Al Bowly and Bing Crosby recorded it in the `30s.I don`t think I`ve heard it before.John Williams did the Star Wars music right?he was a jazz pianist back in the `50s.
Alot of the Bugs Bunny cartoons were based on Raymond Scott`s compositions(Scott was a eccentric big band leader)the Spiderman theme sounds like Boogie Stop Shuffle by Charles Mingus.

Thanks for the info SG! I’ll try to find the song on Soulseek so I can make a better comparison to the imperial march. And yes that was Williams I think, and if he was a jazz pianist it’s not too far fetched to think that he might have used an old jazz song as the basis for the imperial march.

I work with a Star Wars geek (to the max, he has over 350 figures  ), I’ll ask him tonight to try and confirm the source

Every time I hear of John Williams, I think of the episode of Family Guy where Brian has a career as a porn director. John Williams is nominated for an Adult Film Industry award (a woody) for best score of an adult film. It’s a standard John Wiliams piece.

All i know about the Star Wars music score is that Darth Vadar’s theme is a slight variation on one of the planets (i think Jupitor or saturn) in Holst’s classical compostion the Planets.
