It wasn’t easy but I finaly managed to get them …tickets for the gig on the 28th this month. Good news for den Buck too, cause i’ve got a ticket for hime as well. I know he isn’t to crazy about this new band (television / V.U revisited he says) but I am looking forewards to see him jumping around on "new york city cops".

BTW. congrats to Randy Jane …..birthdaytime isnt it

Fucking Rothmanscompany! They’ve promissed strokestickets for me, a girlfriend and den buck. Now they say they only have two tickets for me. Now I have to disapoint den buck or our mutual friend whom I’ve prommised a ticket too…or disapoint myself. Sponsoring sucks!

Suggestions???

Hmmm. Toughy. I would suggest that our mate Bucky (at least from his posts, and also down to the fact that I have never encountered a particularly rude Dutchman) is a true gentleman, and will tell you to take the Woman. Also, maybe he is a little to old to "get" the strokes, and should leave it to a younger person.

Have fun anyway. this band is slowly growing on me. slowly.

Buck – only joking. please take no offence. but maybe you should stick to dad rockers dire straits, ocean color scene and Paul "what do you mean I’ve totally ripped off Nick Drake and tried to pass it off as my own music, I’d written wild wood before Nick Drake was born even though he died before I was born" Weller.

Actually, the night Paul Weller was playing the Paradiso in Amsterdam, den Buck was there as well, but in the small upstairs hall to watch the Horrors and Speedball Baby, not exactly you average ‘dad-rockers’

Congrats! They were here a few months ago, but I was out of town & missed them. Bummer because it was a really small club like 10 blocks from my apartment. Next time they come it will cost an absurd amount of money I bet, but I saw Weezer last week, the White Stripes are coming at the end of March, and I may go to Cleveland to see Guided by Voices, so I’m not hurting for shows too much.

Hey Hansione,

Glad it all worked out for you guys, have a great time!!! I was ready to launch an attack on that rothmans deal…

Hit The Wine don’t forget J is coming to your area in the near future, not a bad deal

Well Allison…all worked out? It is confusing! Still curious about your Rothmans attack.
The girl mantioned was realy realy gentle about it, cause I know she was a-first-moment-fan of the strokes. I’ve actualy saw her jumping up and down whilest playing her vinylcopy in her study…a sight that I cherish…if you know what I mean!!
The sad thing is that she missed the Ryan Adams-gig earlier this month due to flue . So two big ones in a month…it is to bad and I was almost going for "PeteSome" sugestion to let them go instead of me…..but: It would mean: I would have get the tickets in another town, bring them to a pub called Balie at 20.00 houres and then…….go home .
I am a-first moment fan too……look at earlier freakscenetopics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Hansione,

It sucks that you all can’t go, but hey sounds like you and Den Buck will have a great time!!! No doubt you can find a way to make this up to your lady friend, and for that flu deal as well…have felt that pain recently

The rothmans attack was about dealing with the company that burned …or thats what I thought…you on that third ticket, swine

Have fun

It’s all sorted out. The girlfriend was a real gentleman

I have on rectification to make Allison….it was Philip Morris instead of Rothmans

The Strokes @ the Paradiso Amsterdam

Well, what to say about yesterday’s Strokes gig?

Strange opening act: Stereo Total, from Germany, sounded and looked like the White Stripes if they would have been inspired by very wrong 80’s music instead of the blues….

Then we had to wait for about an hour (about two full Ramones albums were played in that time) before the Strokes came on, well, and then the Strokes were…..

…..just the Strokes, they played all the songs they’ve got like a swiss clock, the gig lasted about 45 minutes, lights on, no encores, and den Buck was wondering: is this it?

…..in tonight’s evening paper den Buck reads that yesterday evening he has witnessed the ‘future of rock’n’roll’ (…again…. ), I have my doubts…

After the Strokes Swedish band ‘the Plan’ played a very enjoyable gig (a nice energetic mix of punk and pop) at the small upstairs hall of the Paradiso, and somehow den Buck had more fun there than with the Strokes……

ps. ticket-price for the Strokes at the black market: 100 euro…. the world has gone mad…

If this is the future of rock n’ roll what the f*** happened to the last 20 years?
