Allison, I did hear the Damned’s version, and I like it a lot. Hmm, it just hit me that maybe that conspiracy dude got it all wrong and thought the song was called ‘Smash Yourself Up’ .. shouldn’t have taken it so literally though, it’s only rock n roll after all
Robert, haven’t heard much of Millencollin either, but can’t say I got all excited about what I did hear. Maybe I should give it another chance though. Christ, every friggin time I browse the bbs my attention is brought to some band that oughta be checked out .. I wanna have some sorta life besides checking out bands goddamnit! Meshuggah is swedish. As far as I can tell they’re pretty decent hardcore bands both of them, but I can’t say I’ve listened to them all that much since it’s not really my scene.
September 24, 2001 at 8:54 pm #65315yeah allmost forgot..anybody heard the swedish band james and gobbler (or something like that) ..really good music if it wasn´t for their singer that sucks big time
September 26, 2001 at 6:55 pm #65316Hey I’m insane, cool to hear that Broder Daniel is about to release some new stuff. As for James and Gobbler – I’ve never even heard of them I’m afraid.
Moreover …
Sorry I fucked it all up II:
I mentioned in this thread that International Noise Conspiracy has recorded a version of Damned’s Smash It Up. Well, apparently I should not be trusted when posting with a fever (I’ve been sick with a hell sent flue for 3 days now) . INC do have a tune called Smash It Up on their album Survival Sickness. However, it’s their own tune and NOT a cover of that Damned classic, but for some insane reason I got the impression that it was. Up ’til today, the one and only time I had heard it I was like ‘hmm, this is an odd version of Damned’s Smash It Up, don’t sound much like the original at all … ‘. Well .. duh!, go figure it didn’t!
September 26, 2001 at 7:08 pm #65317Hey Maxini,
Sounds like your Sick of Being Sick , another great Damned song if you can find it check it out…might help you get past that flu.
Thanks for the tips on cool Swedish bands, hard to imagine anyone beating The Hellacopters but hey will check some out.

September 26, 2001 at 8:18 pm #65318Sick of Being Sick, yeah that’s me right now alright I’m on the mend though, and that song title alone cheers me up
The Hellacopters definitely rock the most of the Swedish bands, but it could be worth checking out some other stuff, wouldn’t surprise me if you’d dig Soundtrack of our lives for instance. Check them out live if you get the chance, they’re awesome and the singer looks wicked beyond belief.
BTW, thanks for letting me know that flu isn’t spelled ‘flue’
September 28, 2001 at 12:15 pm #65319Hey Maxini,
Took your advice and checked out some Soundtrack of our lives…very cool. Found their website, understood about 1/8’th of it but did get to hear some clips and check out some pics. Also checked their bio out on AMG, definitely going to try and pick some up.
Thanks,
Allison
February 23, 2004 at 4:32 pm #65320Some great swedish bands that sadly have been forgotten here, in order to celebrate maxini’s return to freakscene:
Honey Is Cool
Doktor Kosmos
The PlanRelated, Broder Daniel finally released a new album at the end of last year.
While it isn’t quite as good as the previous releases, it’s still a good buy! Or rather a must have if you’re a BD fan!February 23, 2004 at 4:49 pm #65321Just saw the clip of ‘Kemp’ by Millencollin on MTV, cool song, cool clip, with lots of robots
February 23, 2004 at 6:03 pm #65322Sounds interesting
Another Swedish band that doesn’t suck…
The Sewergrooves, love a lot of their stuff
February 23, 2004 at 6:50 pm #65323Jupp, Millencolin is cool. And Kemp is great!

I’ve got the Songs From The Sewer album by Sewergrooves, not sure I’ve ever played it though. Perhaps it’s time I do so.
February 24, 2004 at 7:12 am #65324I heard that the Bear Quartet were very Dino influenced on early albums
Sahara Hotnights are like a swede version of The DonnasFebruary 24, 2004 at 12:43 pm #65325Bah, Millencolin, sk8punk… No.
There were already a lot of good bands mentioned in this thread. I think that Loop Troop is good(and it is on a punklabel..), the old Kents are also good. Bob Hund! -
