I’m from the Baltimore/D.C. area, so there are alot of bands around these parts. Although D.C. is kinda known forthe hardcore scene in the 80s, I probably identify more with bands like Unrest.

October 26, 2006 at 9:07 pm #122821ive been in new orleans for a year now. this is a real musical place.. id have to say Dr John is the musical m.c. of New Orleans , i seen him walking around the french quarter before and he was nice and even said welcome to New Awlins!! if your looking for something indie youd have to check out Cowboy Mouth, they sound pretty dang cool..
October 27, 2006 at 7:31 am #122822New Orleans is one of the most musical cities of the world. It boggles my mind just to think of all the musicians from there:Jelly Roll Morton,Louis Armstrong,Sidney Bechet,Fats Domino,Neville Bros, the Marsalis family, etc. and of course Dr John.Ever hear that Bluesiana Triangle band he was in?The first album came out in 1990 and it was Dr John teaming up with Art Blakey and David Fathead Newman(who used to play with Ray Charles).Blakey died not long after and a few others joined in on later records.

What?!?! Hmmmmm… DJ, Pixies, Buffalo Tom, Blake Babies, Lemonheads, Mission of Burma, Letters to Cleo, Throwing Muses… yeah, nobody ever came out of Boston.
Don’t forget Piebald. Those guys are pretty dope.
