Hey Jaron,

I loved the Monkees! I had a bunch of tapes in elementary school that I played incessantly. Still think they’re great! I also used to watch the tv show at the babysitter’s.

Sometime when you are bored, listen to "The Dope Show" by Marilyn Manson, then "Stepping Stone" by the Monkees… the chorus chords are the same.

Tipper what’s that sticker sticking on my CD?
Is that some kind of warning to protect me?
Freedom of choice needs a stronger stronger voice
You can stamp out the source but you can’t stop creative thought

Ah Tipper come on, ain’t you been getting it on?
Ask Ozzy Zappa or me we’ll show you what it’s like to be free
Ah Tipper come on it’s just a smokescreen for the real problems

1. Queen – A Kind Of Magic
2. Czech Vinyl
3. I was 10 when I bought that. it represents my preferences in my earliest teenager years. still think it’s quite ok though.
4. no. even if I’d still have it. gave it away or sold it or sth.

1 A-Ha – first album with Take on me on it
2 Tape
3 Always liked Take on Me until some boy band over here ruined the song for me recently
4 Nope – tape got lost, sold or eaten years ago…

True confessions…

I think our ages our showing with this thread.

1-Dire Straits-Brothers In Arms
2-tape
3-I like their other albums more then this one.
4-no,but I still have it.

first cd:Genesis-Selling England By The Pound;someone on Bob Mould site mentioned listening to this,I don`t feel so weird about it now,one reason why I like GBV is that Pollard sounds so much like Peter Gabriel when he was in Genesis.

Rosa-I bought Tori`s Little Earthquakes for my sister once.
Tony-I have the same birthday as Ice Cube.
Mattman-cool that your Dad is a Bluegrass musician.
Flying Cloud-strange that your Mom thought Queen as satanic;my Mom loves Queen.
den buck-Lou Reed is a pretty cool start of a record collection.

I had a record collection at an early age till about age 7 when I stopped for some reason;I must have been about 3 or so;I was into alot of disco, listened to the radio alot;I even remember having a Ace Frehley single;I think it was New York Groove.

Seriously, your mom thought Queen provided a satanic influence?! That’s hilarious, not that the thought hasn’t crossed my own mind when having to suffer through ‘We will rock you’ over and over at soccer and hockey games. Pure torture that is.</STRONG><HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

oh, she was against every kind of rock music. She didn’t make any differences and threw all the records away that I’ve left there (maybe all those Cramps records gave her the idea that there is any need to save my soul from satan?)
Fortunately I have tapes of the more important ones, and the less important records (Queen!) I’ve never missed since then, so I could always laugh about that "raid".

well, when I hear those songs again anywhere I admit some sentimental feelings

Well, I was 13 at that time, listened to a very good late-night show on AFN every night, while I was doing my homework, it introduced me to a lot of great music during the years (Neil Young, Lou Reed, Roxy Music etc.).
That was the start of my career as a record-buyer, and I haven’t stopped since…..
